your dreams
There is a very simple explanation as to why predominantly Muslim nations tend to be theocracies. They take that Islam shit seriously. And then some. And they have the numbers to impose it as law.

And similarly, we have a fair number of Christian fundamentalists right here at home that would be eager to tear down the wall separating church and state and institute a Chriatian theocracy. The only thing stopping them is they don't have the numbers.

Thank fucking GOD!

There ARE however enough decent Christians here to make America a pretty damn good place to be .

Actually, only about half of all Muslim dominant countries have Islam as the official religion and/or Sharia as the basis for law. People tend to focus on the Middle East and forget about all the African, Asian, and former Soviet countries that are Muslim dominant.

im not sure i follow the logic. After all those Americans took Christianity serious and thats one of the reasons they create a free nation.

Riiiiiiiiiiight!

Because everyone knows that the the Founding Fathers were just like the fundamentalist Christians that are spread across the bible belt today. :cuckoo:

Pretty damn good IF you toe the Christian party line / Pretty fucked up if you disagree.

Ask any Christian trying to be free in a muslim theocracy...

On a side note, I don't think the numbers ARE there. Look at how Americans choose with the only vote that REALLY counts - their wallets.

The porn industry.

The liquor industry.

Pharmaceuticals, both legal and illegal.

Prostitution.

Etc.

On the other hand, look at all the money Americans do NOT want spent on the poor and less fortunate. If this were a Christian nation, there would be a whole lot less bitching when talk of health-care for the poor was brought up.

How anyone can consider themselves to be a 'Christian Republican' is beyond me.

Christian: Help those less fortunate and store your treasure in Heaven.

Republican: I (or my daddy) earned it (stole it) fair and square. It's mine. Fuck 'em!

What, are ya nuts?

Never heard of Shriner's, St. Jude's, MDA or Indigent Care Trust Fund?

Try Googling "medical charity organizations", and you'll see how "stingy" Americans are.

The good news is that you are right. The bad news is that so am I. We live in a nation driven by greed and guilt, neither very 'Christian' values.

Q: What is the largest Muslim-majority country in the world?

A: Indonesia

Q: What religions are legal in Indonesia?

A: All of them. Indonesia practices freedom of religion.

I would reckon that greed and guilt are very Christian values, if you look at the history of Christianity. You cannot find a Christian-majority nation in the past 2000 years that wasn't driven by greed and guilt.

Christianity is all about guilt.

Have to admit..... ya got me there. I almost went back for an edit, but decided to get a cold beer instead.

No, I do NOT feeeeeeeel guilty about that decision.

That's what makes Catholicism so great. You just go to confession and all the guilt just washes away. :D

Speaking as someone who neither throws in with nor is a-skeered of the evangelicals, I have to say that America is still the heavy duty, big box industrial strength ass kicker when it comes to charitable giving, at home and around the world. Hell, the AMERICAN PEOPLE put all other contributors to shame (even our own damned gubmint) when it came to tsunami giving a few years back.

Now, whether that be by way of guilt, big hearts or any other motivations you wish to impute or project, that fact remains.

Your decision to not edit your post was not driven by guilt, but rather driven by either thirst or alcohol withdrawal tremors.

People

If you are dumb enough to think humans will still give a damn about religious laws when the human species build colonies throughout the solar system and maybe even beyond...

If you are blind enough to think that, in the long term, islamic theocracies like SA, Iran, etc... won't have an unavoidable appointment with the dustbin of History, just like Christian, Jewish and Buddhist (Tibet) theocracies before it...

If you are stupid enough to visualise Captain Kirk and Spock raising their asses to the sky onboard the Enterprise 500 or 1000 years from now, if you can imagine human societies of the future being ruled by theocratic political regimes...

If you are mentally retarded enough to believe the theocratic form of government won't be utterly destroyed by the highly advanced scientific-technological society humans are creating right now...

If you are all these things described above then sane people can't do anything to help you...

Only a psych ward can.
