STREISAND DECLARES 'GLOBAL WARMING EMERGENCY'

THE SUPERSTAR SONGSTRESS SERENADED SAWYER WITH STORM SEASON ASSERTIONS. BUT TO SOME SHE'LL SOUND MORE LIKE A WINDSOCK SINGING LIBERALISM'S GOLDEN OLDIES!

NEW YORK -- This summer's back to back superstorms are proof positive we have entered a new period of "global warming emergency," artist/citizen Barbra Streisand warns.

Streisand is back on the scene to promote her reunion disc with Barry Gibb.

As hellstorm "Rita" churned in the Gulf, Streisand sat down for a promotional interview with ABCNEWS's Diane Sawyer.

"We are in a global warming emergency state, and these storms are going to become more frequent, more intense," Streisand urgently declares.

But Sawyer did not remind Streisand that a Category 5 hurricane struck the Bahamas with 160 mph winds -- when the singer was five years old, in 1947!

And when Streisand was 8 years old, a Cat 5 hurricane -- named "Dog" -- packing 185 mph churned-away in the Atlantic.

When she was 9, a Cat 5 storm named "Easy" ripped the seas with 160 mph sustained winds.

Streisand was 13 years old when "Janet" hit Mexico with 150 mph winds.

Streisand was celebrating her sweet sixteen as "Cleo" formed with 140 mph.

At 18, Streisand read news about "Donna" AND "Ethel" -- both storms carried 140 mph winds and formed 9 days apart in 1960!

One year later, when Streisand was 19, it happened again: Two Category 5 storms scared the world: "Carla" and "Hattie!"

"Carla" maxed out at 175 mph winds the year Streisand made her television debut on "The Jack Paar Show."

And who could forget Hurricane "Camille" -- which smashed into the United States with 190 mph, just as "Funny Girl" garners eight Academy Award nominations, including one for Best Picture and one for Barbra as Best Actress.

Up next on the weather warning watch, Streisand says to ABC: "There could be more droughts, dust bowls. You know, it's amazing to hear these facts."

These announcements by people like Babs remind me of the first hot days of summer or cold days of winter. People act like summer has never been so hot or winter as cold, why are they taken by surprise when it snows in the middle of November in Colorado?
The idiots on the news programs make it worse. I just had to deal with no normal television programming for the last week. 24 hours a day we were graced with expert after expert that started predicting size and path of Rita from 780 miles out. Do the math, this storm was moving at 12 miles an hour and they are pretending too know what it will do days from now.
There was a reason before political correctness that we named hurricanes after women, they are very unpredictable and when mad can be terribly destructive to everyone and everything around them.

"why are they taken by surprise when it snows in the middle of November in Colorado?"

November? Shoot, why are they surprised when it snows in the middle of September here!

Who the hell cares what this wack job has to say about anything?? She is a complete nut that does a lot of "do as I say not as I do" She is one of the most waistful people in The US with her private limo's and jets. She is in one word

Bitch

Why soesnt she just die??? :wank: :2guns:

Global warming is just a natural flucuation in the Earth's climate. Global warming and cooling have been occurring in cycles for as long as the Earth has been spinning. We didn't cause it, and we can't stop it. This is just another liberal control high. You can't control the weather by not polluting. Get over it.

The problem with what you've said here is that nobody can prove conclusively one way or the other who's right. The only conclusion that can be reached is that something, whether it's global warming caused by us or a natural fluctuation in global weather patterns, is happening to the environment. It's hard to deny that something's going on when polar icecaps in Greenland, Canada, Siberia and elsewhere are melting at an astonishing rate. Maybe we've reached the far side of the spectrum on a cycle that goes from ice age to arid desert conditions. Maybe we're in for more deserts.

Coming soon to a neighborhood near you! It's deserts! Starring sand! Also starring skin cancer caused by an increase in uv radiation! And introducing drought caused by a shortage of fresh water!

Actually, deserts, like the Sahara, are shrinking.

You also have to think of Occam's Razor. Which is the simplist solution, that the warming trend is identical to those that have been occurring for as long as the world's been spinning or that this particular one has been caused by people in a sudden burst of unprovable greenhouse effect? Hmmm.

Haven't glaciers been retreating for the last 10,000 years? I think global warming is happening, but I believe its a natural process, and yes perhaps its being 'accelerated' in a very small way by our pollution. What mainly concerns me is the ozone layer, that is something our pollution is not helping. What baffles me is why news organizations give airtime to airheads like her instead of actual scientists. Anyone see Team America? LOL she must be a member of the Film Actors Guild !

It is interesting that the Sun's temperature has been higher of late and at the same time Global Warming is occuring here it is happening at the same time on Mars.

It seems to point to a more natural reason than that of human interference. Now does our activity increase the consequences? We do not know yet Global environmentalism is a fresh new science without the benefit of experimentation observable or deniable within one lifetime or permissible as such experimentation would be on the actual global environment.

someone needs to tell that cow to get off her soap box and back on the stage. just another celebrity that thinks the world needs to listen to them cause they are famous

And what do you suggest we do about it? If we didnt cause it, how can we prevent it?

Bear in mind that Mars' polar ice caps are also melting at a higher then normal rate. Some suggest that the sun is going through a hotter cycle than normal. How then do we stop the sun from being hotter? Dont drive SUV's? Stop building refineries for oil? Place ridiculous taxes and sanctions on all industries?
