Many of our “leaders” want to make America more like Europe. When President Obama was in Europe, he praised the “social safety net that exists in almost all of Europe that doesn't exist in the United States."

Vice president Joe Biden called paying higher taxes "patriotic."

An article in today's UK Daily Mail illustrates how over time, welfare states begin to offer monstrous entitlements:

A single mother-of-six is getting more than £80,000 [$125,000] a year from the taxpayer to live in a £2million mansion in an exclusive London suburb.

Essma Marjam, 34, is given almost £7,000 a month in housing benefits to pay the rent on the five-bedroom villa just yards from Sir Paul McCartney's house and Lord's cricket ground.
She also receives an estimated £15,000 a year in other payouts, such as child benefit, to help look after her children, aged from five months to 14.

The four-storey house in Maida Vale has five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a double living room... two large flat-screen televisions ...

Cont. (read and weep) :cuckoo:

Entitled to a Five-bedroom House John Stossel

:doubt:

I have a feeling that a house in McCartney's neighborhood is worth more than 2 million UK.

This story is probably bullshit.

Did you hear him being interviewed a week or so ago? We The People bought him (JS) a golf cart worth six grand. :)

Saw that one. Wonder how many people on hoverrounds really need em? We bought those too.

Jeeze. Nothing like spreading the wealth.

Hysterical twit. Or just twit. Or just hysterical.
Not the funny kind.

I liked John Stossel better when he was a serious journalist.

Oh, and social scientists in the UK are advising the UK government that the welfare state is actually damaging society, not saving it.

When Stossel worked for a legitimate news network he was held to journalistic standards.
Now that he works for FoxNews, the only thing he has to worry about is ratings

Nice try on the 'shoot the messenger' defense, since I just proved that the story could, in fact, be true. And it is not unrealistic, in the UK, for this woman to be getting the benefits quoted in the article. So, I guess the only thing left is to try and disparage Stossel. Carry on.

The Daily Mail has highlighted other outrageous examples, such as the single mother of eight receiving £90,000 a year to live in a £2.6million Notting Hill mansion.

Taxpayers are also picking up the £6,400-a-month bill to house Nasra Warsame, her seven children and her elderly mother in central London, with Westminster council also providing Mrs Warsame's husband and their eighth child with a two-bedroom flat nearby.

In total, 16 families are living in million-pound-plus London properties funded by the Local Housing Allowance.

You should read up on how the treat lunatic Muslim clerics who come to the UK, live off the British taxpayer and preach to young Muslims about the evils of Britain and encouraging them to jihad against their country. Charming people, the Brits but sometimes they are a tad too tolerant and generous with their taxes.
