In this study we examine the history of how the Mormon faith was founded and who Joseph Smith was. This is a study based on historical evidence written by various authors and will also quote Mormon books and teachings to expose the truth about Joseph Smith. It is from the book, entitled The Enchanter published by Jack Chick Publications.

The Mormon people are wonderful people and this study is not being used to insult any Mormon readers. It is being done in an effort to educate others as to the roots of Mormonism and to bring light to the subject - revealing the truth. It is the truth that sets men free.

D. Michael Quinn wrote a book in 1998 entitled Early Mormonism & the magic world. Documentation on pages 9-32 of Jack Chick's book (The Enchanter) on the Mormon faith uses this material as part of confirmation of the occult history of Joseph Smith, Jr.'s family roots. Beginning on page 9 of the Enchanter we learn the following:

Joseph Smith Jr. was born in Vermont on December 23, 1805. His family was deeply involved in witchcraft and magic. His dad, Joseph Sr., was a strong Mason and a part-time farmer who ran a cake and beer shop. Times were hard. Many of his neighbors had "seer stones." They believed these stones were magical. They looked through these stones to find buried treasure. Young Joseph was very good at it. People believed he had special gifts.

Witchcraft books of the day taught that buried treasures were guarded by spirit beings who had to be appeased in a specific way. Only a ceremonial dagger could be used to make magic circles. And a special talisman was needed for conjuring (raising up) the spirit.* All of this was vital.

Occultic symbols were on his dagger. Joseph always wore his silver Jupiter talisman for protection. A blood offering was required, by cutting the throats of black dogs or black sheep. Out of this strange family arose the 'shining star' that Satan needed to create "Mormonism".

In 1823 Joseph Smith had a strange dream in which a dazzling figure appeared at his bedside.

Joseph Smith claims he said.......
I am a messenger....sent from the presence of God!

But when his father related what Joseph told him, the visitor was an ancient man dressed in bloody clothes.* It was strange how the incident changed every time the story was told. At first the old man had no name, but......

Over the next several years, his name kept switching between "Nephi" and "Moroni."

Finally the old guy in bloody clothes changed into a man in shining white garments, now known as the "Angel Maroni."**

Now that we got that settled.....we come to the book made of golden plates.

Right not meant to attack Mormons but it claims Smith was a practitioner of witch craft. LOL you people will grasp at any straw to attack a religion that has never done a thing to hurt ot harm you or anyone else. Remind us how great the Pope is again?

The foundation of Mormonism is deeply rooted in the supposed existence of those magic "golden plates." These held the key to their faith. Here's how Joseph Smith Sr. told the story.

Page 11 of The Enchanter depicts the following scene based on the historical account.

Joseph Smith Sr: I'm telling you, Willard Chase, a spirit appeared to my son...... And told him about buried golden plates.

Willard Chase: You don't say........

Joseph Smith Sr: It told him that to get those plates, he had to dress in black and ride a black horse. My son obeyed the spirit, and guess what? He found that treasure box!

Willard Chase: Well, I'll be.........

Joseph Smith Sr. continues his story:

But Joseph set the plates on the ground - which the spirit warned him not to do! Then they slipped back into the earth, out of sight. When he reached for them... a force struck him in the chest 3 times!
The spirit re-appeared and rebuked him - saying to wait one year before trying it again. The spirit told him next time you must bring your brother, Alvin, with you. (Joseph Smith Jr. promised to do this).

Joseph Smith Sr.'s eldest son, Alvin died and was buried. What a blow! Joseph had an appointment with the spirit, who was already very angry with him.

Alvin was dead. He had to keep his promise. he couldn't drag Alvin's body there, so.......... he opened Alvin's grave - because he was desperate to get those plates. Joseph needed a part of Alvin for a magic talisman.

I'd like to make a comment right here. Had Joseph Smith Jr. known the bible he would have known he was encountering a demonic spirit. If this were an angel - sent by God? Why would it tell Joseph Smith to bring his brother when his brother was about to die and would not be able to come? Didn't God know when Joseph Smith Jr.s brother Alvin was going to die? ha! ha! Of course God knew but God didn't send that demonic spirit to Joseph Smith Jr. enticing him with "buried treasure" and "hidden golden plates"! There is absolutely no precedent for any such thing in the King James Bible. NONE. Which is why had Joseph Smith Jr. known what the Bible said? He would have known he was encountering a demonic spirit sent by Satan! Not an angel sent by God! You see? Let's continue now........

If you find the truth to be a personal attack then you'll have to apologise to the Muslims for not understanding their offense at the truth - the Catholic people are lovely people - I find they make wonderful Christians - the very best - when they come to Salvation in Jesus Christ - many Catholics have left Roman Catholicism to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and I am one of them! I have no problem with Roman Catholics. I have a problem with the false teaching they were indoctrinated into - which is rooted in a Babylonian religion - occult - see the story of Semiramis, Nimrod, and Tammuz - that is the roots of Catholicism and what Constantine followed. To condemn the evidence without examining it will keep you in eternal ignorance over a matter, Sarge. I hope you will first examine the historical facts before rushing to judgment. Please let me finish my presentation first and then you can comment to your hearts delight.

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

why do we care? and why is it on a political board?

LOL! Info she's using is from a comic book for children bashing Mormonism. And look at that chick site, it's a total capitalist orgy-fest. All manner of crap for sale. "Serving the evangelical Christian for over 50 years" yeah, but we're not a cult, those that've been around for centuries or even millenia are. Buy our DVDs to see. :) What a scam.

So on page 11 we learn that Joseph Smith Jr. opened the grave of his eldest brother, Alvin, in order to take a part of his body to be used as a talisman. We continue now with page 12.......

Some say it was one of Alvin's hands. On Sept. 22, 1824, Joseph pleaded with the spirit.......

Joseph Smith Jr. speaking to the spirit: But I've done everything the five magic books commanded me to do!

The spirit: Not good enough! Come back next year.

Joseph Smith Jr.s' money digging business continued. People paid him to look through the seer stone (which he 'peered at' in his hat) to find money.

One day while he was assisting someone in finding buried treasure he was placed under arrest. On March 20, 1926, Joseph was tried and found guilty. Because of his youth, he was "allowed" to escape and leave the area.

Meanwhile Joseph fell in love with Emma Hale. Her father, Isaac, became suspicious of Joseph's money-digging, that never paid off.

He soon eloped with Emma. They were married on Jan. 18, 1827. Her daddy was outraged!
Emma Hale was wife number one. In future years she would have to "share" Joseph with up to 27 other women. (This was called polygamy)
Joseph (the enchanter) was quite a ladies man.

Before midnight on Sept. 21, 1827, Joseph and Emma"borrowed" a friend's wagon to beg the spirit once again for the treasure. It finally agreed, but SURPRISE! There was no golden plates! They were a figment of Joseph's mind.

Convincing himself he had them, he "hid" the imaginary plates in an old black hollow oak tree. News spread fast. Soon the town was ablaze with rumors over "The Golden Bible!"

This is the religion forum. Go to the political forum for political news. You are on the wrong forum.

Actually, Smith was convicted of fraud for running a fortune telling racket - to one such as Jeremiah, that would be witchcraft.

Continuing with the story:

People became jealous and angry over Joseph's "remarkable find." So Joseph quickly dumped his former treasure-digging friends. They were so outraged that they hired a fortuneteller to try and locate the plates! They followed Joseph to the hollow tree.....Joseph quickly grabbed the invisible plates...but his old partners attacked him! After a short struggle, Joseph safely escaped with his imaginary plates.

It wasn't until 1829 that the first "viewing" of the golden plates took place. Joseph Smith Jr. announced - Behold! The plates are inside the box. Those present responded There's nothing in there! Where are they? A third person said, I don't see them either! (There were 8 people present and none of them saw what was in the box - it was empty)

Joseph Smith exploded in anger. O ye of little faith! How long will God bear with this wicked and perverse generation? Down on your knees, brethren! Every one of you, and pray God for the forgiveness of your sins! His disciples fell to their knees, shaking in their boots, Bewildered, they begged God, Why can't WE see the plates?

How terribly sad! Had these precious people only known the Word of God in the King James Bible they never would have fallen for this deception! They should have believed their own eyes and realized the reason none of them saw anything in the box was because the box was empty!!

Let's see what happens next!

To God - it would be witchcraft, Uncensored. But there is a great deal of occult history / proven historical facts and testimonies about Joseph Smith Jr. that have been covered up and hidden from the Mormon people (especially converts!!) and that is the purpose of this thread.

To give the true historical account of Joseph Smith Jr.'s life, his actions, his teachings, using many resources - documents including that of the Mormon teaching / faith itself - to prove it is a false teaching and the people inside need to be set free from it.

King James Bible Scriptures - God warns against the Occult - Witchcraft, divinations, Enchantments such as Joseph Smith Jr. and his father were partaking in.

For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.
Deuteronomy 18:14

There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
Deuteronomy 18:10

Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon.
Jeremiah 27:9

There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
Deuteronomy 18:10

Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Deuteronomy 18:11

Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and wizards, out of the land.
1 Samuel 28:3

Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
Isaiah 47:13
(note that anyone involved in astrology - reading astrology in papers - astrology signs, etc is partaking in the occult - you are to have nothing to do with it)

And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
Acts 13:6

But Elymas the sorcerer ( for so is his name interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
Acts 13:8

Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.
Isaiah 2:6

Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name, I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing nought, and the deceit of their heart.
-Jeremiah

_______
Joseph Smith was a false prophet. The people deserve to know the truth and be set from from his deception because Jesus Christ paid the price at the cross for all men to be set free. Jesus didn't come to condemn the world but rather that through him the world would be saved.

And again it is written:

Thus saith the Lord God: Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!
Ezekiel 13:3

and again it is written:

They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
Ezekiel 13:6

This is precisely what Joseph Smith Jr. did to his followers. He was deceived by a demonic spirit and deceived others. He was not sent by God.

In the book, The Enchanter, you'll learn that it was an ex-Mormon who gave much of this information to the Christians who saved his life - as he was running from the Mormons in fear of his life at the time. Later, the documents, books, names of authors and people giving testimonies was supplied which helped to confirm the story as true.

Continuing with page 14 and interview with the ex - Mormon:

The Christian man - Jim: You mean to tell me there was nothing in the box? And they believed him?

The ex-Mormon: Nothing, Jim, This was the biggest con job ever pulled off. Yep! It wasn't until years later that they openly admitted they didn't physically see and handle the plates. The eight guys who were looking into the box, gave this testimony:

Be it known.......... as many of the leaves (golden plates) as Smith has translated we did handle with our own hands....and we lie not! ......God beareth witness of it.

The Christian man - Jim:
They lied through their teeth!

2nd Christian man replies: In a court that is called perjury!

Ex - Mormon: Joseph Smith played with their minds.... threatened them, pulled their heart strings and guilt-induced them unto they snapped! At long last......they saw the plates! But only "through the eyes of faith!"

About the time the Book of Mormon was being written, a scandal rocked the nation, deeply affecting the "Smith family."

In early 1826 a disgruntled Mason named Captain William Morgan wrote a manuscript exposing Masonry. He revealed their secret handshakes, the passwords and even their horrible death oaths.
