Unless US manufacturers were buying those widgets to make their products that now will cost more in the world market & hurt exports.Trade tarrifs add cost their competitors don't have. Any business China loses, only strengthens their competitors. Lots of people can make widgets.China is risking losing all that businessYou sound like you can't live without China.
