Who the hell needs teachers, police and firefighters?

Obviously liberals don't since those seem to be the only government officials they can think of firing when there is some sort of budget crunch.

"We're BEYOND BROKE!! We're BANKRUPT!!!

We CAN'T Spend any more; we don't HAVE any More!"

Unfortunately, I'm afraid that it's a case of them being so broke,

You generally don't need to borrow Trillions of dollars when you have that money in the bank.

By definition isn't a stimulus supposed to generate a response? The proper response by state and local government should have been more reductions on programs and employees. This is not a failure of a stimulus, but a failure of government.

Well, that all depends. If your goal is to prolong the recession, then spending cuts would certainly be a proper answer. If you want to minimize the effects of a recession, basic economic theory would tell you that doing so would amplify the impact of the downturn.

Cause spending cuts and tax cuts really prolonged the 1920 depression... oh wait.

Well, we all know that the spending increases, usurpation of power, and tax increases got us free of the 1929 Depression within months... ah shoot.

That's the whole point...you pass so many entitlement programs it allows you to justify higher tax rates and lenient tax breaks encourages families to have more children to support the tax base
