Colorado Cheats, however...when the moutain 'starts' at 5-7000 feet from the ground...it's easy to reach 14k.

Even with the ones that start at '0' the tallest of the mountains start far higher than that. First you have foothills, they give the base needed in order to get the mountains that high. The next step are the high mountains, then the Divide.

However in order to have all the 14ers you have to have mountains on the Continental Divide.

okay...how about 'ours start at 500 feet' :p Which looks bigger, Mt Rainier, or Pike's Peak? ;)
