"SPRINGFIELD, Ill., March 9 (LID) Illinois lawmakers are considering a bill that would levy a special tax against strip-club goers to help the cash-strapped state bankroll sexual violence prevention programs.
The proposal seeks to impose a statewide, $5 per-person admission tax at live adult entertainment facilities that either serve alcohol or allow patrons to bring their own.
More than 100 Illinois establishments, including striptease clubs, would be affected by the law.
Senate Bill 3348 is awaiting action by the full Senate, after Tuesday clearing the chambers Public Health Committee on an 8-0 vote.
Despite the unanimous vote, some committee members expressed concerns about the proposal, suggesting amendments may be in the works."
