"Starve the Beast" is the Republican program for starving the Federal government of revenue so that the people who run it have to choose between cutting popular programs (Social Security, unemployment, children's health insurance) or widening deficits.

The idea is to create a crisis, so there's "no choice" but to cut the programs they want to cut anyway - but don't have the balls to attack directly.

Deficits are a means to an end, in other words. Which is why the Pubs won't countenance even $1 of taxes, and why the "Super-committee" was doomed to fail.

It's all about transferring wealth upward. The only thing that trickles down is shit. It's like living on the first floor of a 2-story outhouse.

Actually, the GOP offered a plan to raise revenue by 300 billion, the dems turned it down. The real truth is that the dems need to use the "tax the rich" policy against the repubs cuz that's all they got to run on. Sure as hell can't run on their record.
