Stand up to Cancer!

So 100% of the money goes directly to cancer research does it?

Based on its 2010 IRS 990, as reported through GuideStar it doesn't.

NOT EVEN CLOSE,

Annual Revenue & Expenses Financial information on GuideStar is either digitized from Form 990 images we receive from the IRS or submitted by the nonprofits themselves through the GuideStar Exchange (990 filers cannot override Form 990 financial data). how much money has been donated to cure cancer?

how much money would big medical companies lose if cancer was 'cured'?

Think about how much it would bring to the pharmaceutical companies if there was a cure.

but it would be a one shot deal....not years of consuming like it is with cancer....

take someone with basal cell cancer....a nice little cancer...doesnt kill anyone...

but lets add up the costs......

every 6 months...dermo......at least 75 bucks.....removal another 125.....biopsy 150... so its 350 every 6 months....and it goes on for years....a cure ...is just one bill...and its done

Even if they find a cure, the cure wouldn't just be, take a pill and it's done. Patients would probably have to endure months of treatments.

Cancer is not ONE disease. It's hundreds. Each one different and extremely complicated. The idea that science doesn't want a cure for cancer because they would some how lose money on research and treatment is absolutely childish! Doctors and researchers die from cancer too.

Ehhh I agree and disagree....it's indeed childish, but it's also true. There are some powerful people at the apex of the medical industry who will be out a lot of money if cures for cancer began popping up. They would no longer be able to put patients though the monetary ringer otherwise so it's in their best interest to make sure a cure for cancer does not happen any time soon.

Despicable? Clearly. True? Absolutely.
