Really south of the border
Greetings fellow winos-

Anybody with a working knowledge of Spanish reds? Recommendations for reasonably priced bottles please - or hell anything you know about any of them.

I like the big Riojas, but they are pricey. Toro has climbed up the price chart as well.

There are lesser known regions which I am willing to try, but given these are import prices am less apt to risk the purchase. Thus, I seek guidance.

Thank you and Scole!

Not sure that the wines we buy here in Spain will be the same brand as you can get, this wine is a crianza
Crianza
A wine labeled 'crianza' has spent one year in oak barrels.
Reserva
A wine which says 'reserva' on the bottle has been aged for two years; one of these years has to have been spent in oak.
Gran Reserva
These wines are aged for two years in oak and three years in the bottle.

ALDI - wine and beer

I like the Concha y Toro Casillero it goes for 10.29 per bottle.
Also the Concha y Toro Marques is very good. It goes for 21.99 per bottle.
