South park was changed by their owners, not censored.
Censorship indicates action by a governmental entity.

Spin on though.

Censorship is the suppression of speech or deletion of communicative material which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient to the government or media organizations as determined by a censor.
Censorship - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

there is also the definition of self-censorship:

Self-censorship is the act of censoring or classifying one's own work (blog, book(s), film(s), or other means of expression), out of fear or deference to the sensibilities of others without an authority directly pressuring one to do so. Self-censorship is often practiced by film producers, film directors, publishers, news anchors, journalists, musicians, and other kinds of authors.

In authoritarian countries, creators of artworks may remove material that their government might find controversial for fear of sanction by their governments. In pluralistic capitalist countries, self-censorship can also occur, particularly in order to conform to the expectations of the market. For example, the editor of a periodical may consciously or unconsciously avoid topics that will anger advertisers or a parent company in order to protect their livelihood. This phenomenon is referred to as soft censorship.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-censorship this censorship does not seem to fall in this category though "without an authority directly pressuring one to do so"

welcome to the world of censorship ;)

Your title says censored by Muslims. Your provided definitions fail to support that assertiion.

I do stand corrected on my perception of censorship definitions though.

South Park Self-censored by Comedy Central would have been a proper title.

As I said spin on.

Not true, because it is indirectly censored by muslims: It is the media that censored it because muslims threatened them. If we take out the muslim aspect: would the media still censor it? => cause and effect

Also what this media corporation did was just unamerican, not worthy to be an american company. Since when is there a precondition that free speech & free press can only be allowed if not being threatened? If this is "the rule" then it may be better to bann free speech & free spress all at once, since in that case we (as a society) wouldn't be such big hyppocrites.

They wanted to keep their heads. That's understandable.

So next time I threaten you, you will do whatever I want? Is that understandable?

You also find it understandable that our troops in afghanistand & Iraq are shot down because they want to defend your rights of free speech and have some "embarrassing US company" just throw those rights down the toilet?

The creators of the south park cartoons (Matt & Trey) talking about "how they (don't) like it to be censored":

If Islam is such a peaceful religion why is it there are so many threats of murder and actual massacres of men women and children who's biggest insult to the religion is to go about their lives.Yet they are blown to bits as they go shopping in markets and as they go to and from work.Great religion.

Muslims don't have the power to censor South Park. As has been stated, Comedy Central decided to do that.

Maybe one of these days they will allow the episode to be streamed online.

Would they sencor it if they were not threatened? And if the Comedy Central producers/creators felt they were threatened, then who would have caused the censorship? I think if you can threaten others to do something like that then it are the people who threaten that are the ones who re censoring.

For example: a chinese government will threaten with punishments if a chinese journalist will publish something, result: chinese government is censoring (even though the government is not in charge of the specific newscorporation).

If extremist muslims succeed in threatening a media corporation with the goal to change the content of its TV-episode: is this not the same as the example above? Are it not the extremist muslims who are effectivly censoring what may and what may not be shown on TV by making death threats?

Who ultimately decided that showing "the prophet mohammed" is bad? Is it Comedy Central or the extremist muslims?
