Soros's Media Matters: Dems lose in 2010 because of FoxNews!

Okay heres some food for thought, the DoD is about to spend 7.9 Billion dollars for a backup or Alternate Engine for the Joint Strike Fighter , which already has an engine with 1000's of hours development and time on it and is set for production. Take the Joint Strike Fighter itself at 83 to 200 Billion dollars a copy, recently the same company Lockheed Martin has designed and built and offered a 5th generation F16 super viper that outperforms the Joint Strike Fighter and costs half as much. Back in 2003 the Bush Administration submitted to congress a report putliing 1.2 Trillion dollars of defense spending that they could not account for. This is just a small sample of one department in the US Govt. does when spending taxpayer dollars and people are asking if the Stimulus bill created jobs!!!!! You cannot be serious, in fact it may have created jobs but like the DoD if any sane or rational individual or business had used that formula for success they would soon find themselves in bankruptcy court.

This is the very reason that we need better control over our Government. Companies that win government contracts see those contracts as a licence to print money. It is just not acceptable.

Ahh this is the same song the right has been singing for 30 years.
Blame it on the liberal media.

somehow the other side is not allowed to do the same?

Lies. We've only been singing it for the last 6 years. The reasons have only recently become crystal-clear.

This is a new one for the Dems because they've never had to deal with a Fox News that was this effective. They used to have integrity on their side...but after seeing the slobbering press supporting Obama for the last 2 plus years it's become obvious that they're supporting one side over another.

It's not a matter of not allowing them to do it in our case. We point it out but do nothing to prevent it. The Dems, however, want to prevent Fox from doing it through FCC changes and intimidation.

Your input is noted though....nice try.

Its been much longer than 6 years

One, the F-16 is NOT stealthy. I know. I worked on it for six and a half years. The new Joint Strike Fighter is. (Radar invisible.)

Two, the military has black ops and Top Secret/Krypto projects that simply can't be divulged that need funding. That is not to say there isn't wasteful spending in the military because there is. It's just that there is always going to be a certain amount there that won't be able to be accounted for. That's just the way it is.

Allocating money to "create" jobs is a totally different situation. That money should be under strict scrutiny, and able to be accounted for fully.

I've come to the conclusion that it's a matter of not cutting money from the budget more than it is spending it in a wise manner and holding those accountable that don't and the end result will be a cut. Frankly, when you have project like Yucca Mtn which was proposed to cost 38 Billion Dollars and will end up costing twice that and has already cost billions, which the current Administration just ends it's like, taking taxpayer money and setting it on fire and shrugging your shoulders. The same goes with any number of DoD, DoE, NASA, etc. programs that come and go over the years. All this debate over a Stimulus Bill that was supposed to create jobs, if you just use unemployment as the measure then it has been a failure of epic proportions like many Govt. programs. Again, perhaps if our Govt. spent the money we give them in a wise manner, then passing bills to stimulate the economy in order to create jobs would not be needed?

The low radar signature of the F-16IN reduces detection by enemy radars. Its single-engine design has smaller infrared and visual signature than twin-engine fighters. The internal electronic warfare and towed decoy systems, provided by Raytheon, avoid or defeat the most advanced threats. Raytheon's combat-proven EW systems are deployed on F-16 aircraft worldwide. Superior agility and excellent pilot situational awareness reduce vulnerability to attack, while critical systems redundancy and shielding enhance survivability

The F35 is the single biggest waste of money if your speaking in terms of it's survivability as a so called stealth platform.

Last week an Australian politician claimed that stealthy F-35 Joint Strike Fighters were "clubbed like baby seals" in a computer air-war simulation run by the U.S. Air Force. Now the JSF program has responded … with a claim that aviation guru Bill Sweetman calls "remarkable." As in, remarkably hard to believe.

I'm not speaking of "black-ops" programs and things such as the fun DARPA has fun with out in the desert. I'm speaking of such things as massive cost over runs on programs, purchasing then backing out of contracts that have already been executed. Purchasing aircraft like F35 which is a massive cash cow in an environment where "stealth technology" that is incorporated into the F35 is easily countered. As for the F16IN it is a F16 in name only, as is the F15se, which is a logical follow on to existing aircraft in US inventory and accomplishes everything and more that the F35 does at up to half the cost. The only reason they are not considered is because of political reasons, and in an enviroment where our nation has to beg on bended knee to China for it's next bailout, these things need to be taken into consideration and the politics of procurmenent taken out of it. In fact I'm not aware of a F35 that has the ability to super cruise as the Super Viper does. So yes, spending regardless of what agency is doing it does reflect on the overall health of this nation especially when it is done in such a terrible manner as exists today. If you correct the methods by which our Govt. spends money then you can start to address the things such as the deficit and as a natural progression result in the cuts needed to get out house in order.

Don't you ever get tired of showing your complete ignorance of history????

The Liberal Media myth was invented by the right over 40 years ago to deflect accountability. (Actually, VP Spiro Agnew first floated the concept in a speech during the Nixon administration, when the press was investigating and reporting on Watergate). It was actually a very savvy move, as it allowed them to have it both ways. When negative news was reported, it could just be blamed on the media, and when positive news was reported, they could claim; "Even the liberal media sees it our way." It also puts the media in a position to drift slightly to the right to avoid the accusation of liberalism. Delegitimizing the media is seen as a legitimate way by some to protect those they support politically from the media's critical eye.

CON$ are still spouting the Nixon/Agnew psychobabble to this day.

Forty Years Ago, Spiro Agnew's Speech on the 'Meat-Axe' Liberal Media

Yesterday marked the 40th anniversary of a unique political speech. On November 13, 1969, Vice President Spiro Agnew questioned the network news divisions' domination of the political debate, and the "narrow and distorted picture of America [that] often emerges from the television news."

So what's the final tally on the number of media outlets Soros's Media Matters going after?

Not to continue this conversation about purchasing smartly, but more food for thought,

Boeing launched the F-15SE, initially dubbed "Project Monty", last September. The company-owned F-15E testbed was quickly modified with the V-tail and conformal fuel tanks to provide a ground-based demonstrator.

Flight trials for a risk reduction programme are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2010. The first aircraft could be available for delivery to foreign customers three years after a deal is signed. Boeing plans to offer the F-15SE to Israel, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and South Korea, with all being current F-15 customers.

Notionally, Boeing estimates the F-15SE’s cost, including airframe, spares and training, at $100 million each.

The F-15’s single-largest customer – the US Air Force – is not officially a sales target for the F-15SE. However, Boeing says that all of the stealth, avionics and structural upgrades can be retrofitted on any existing F-15E. Company officials have briefed three agencies within the US Air Force, including Air Combat Command, but only as a “courtesy”, the company says.

WASHINGTON - The cost of buying and operating a new fleet of jet fighters for the U.S. military is nearing $1 trillion, according to a congressional audit that found the program dogged by delays, manufacturing inefficiencies and price increases
GAO Says F-35 Costs to Hit $1 Trillion

So one wonders, if these things have not become more cash cows than pure programs meant to benefit the war fighter and get the best bang for the buck. My point here is simple, we as a nation spend a lot of time talking about debt and deficits and until such time as we address HOW our Govt. spends money then that will never change. In my day, if Kelly Johnson could deisgn and build an aircraft in a matter of months, and it was good enough for the Air Force and is still in operation, then there is no reason why the DoD given a swift kick in the ass as well as the contractors that do business with them cannot do the same.

"prove the Stimulus did not save American jobs"

Unemployment Feb. 2009 8.1%
Unemployment Sept. 2010 9.6%

Difference 1.5% Since the Stimulus

Forgive me but if the goal of the Stimulus was to save or create jobs then the measure by which it creates those jobs says otherwise, or the bar has been lowered to the point where creating just one job these days means you have accomplished something. While I don't doubt that the Stimulus created jobs, it does appear that 750 Billion dollars could have been better spent had we not borrowed it from China in the first place.
