Let's look at the influences the pioneers of rock-n-roll had when they were growing up. For Buddy Holly, it was Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. For the Beatles, well, it was Buddy Holly. Not hard to see that depression-era Western Swing started all of this, it was one of Elvis' big influences as well.
