Somne Of You Right Siders Explain This To Me............

#1) The Top 1% Owns 40% of the Nation's Wealth:

Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz points out the richest 1% of Americans now own 40% of the nation's wealth. This disparity is much worse than it was in the past, as just 25 years ago the top 1% owned 33% of national wealth.

How much does the bottom 80% own? Only 7%.

#2) The Top 1% Take Home 24% of National Income:

While the richest 1% of Americans take home almost a quarter of national income today, in 1976 they took home just 9% -- meaning their share of the national income pool has nearly tripled in roughly three decades.

#3) The Top 1% Own Half of the Country's Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds: The Institute for Policy Studies illustrates this massive disparity in financial investment ownership, noting that the bottom 50% of Americans own only 0.5% of these investments.

#4) The Top 1% of Americans Have Only 5% of the Nation's Personal Debt:

Using 2007 figures, sociologist William Domhoff points out that the top 1% have 5% of the nation's personal debt while the bottom 90% have 73% of total debt.

#5) The Top 1% Are Taking In More off the Nation's Income Than at Any Other Time Since the 1920s: Not only are the wealthiest 1% of Americans taking home a tremendous portion of the national income, but their share of this income is greater than at any other time since the Great Depression, as the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities illustrates in this chart, using 2007 data.

The Top 5 Facts About America

There isn't enough union busting now..Here are 5 reasons Unions are bad for our economy. Link will be provided below..

Republican horse shit. All the benefits the middle class received after the 1950's were gained because of unions. I was a member of local 9-288 myself. Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers(OCAW)

The Republicans want to take their inheirited money, shuffle a few papers, kiss a few of their buddies asses and end up a millionaire. A carpenter or construction worker has to work till he can no longer do the work and then fuckin die.

When Romney told the kids at a college to start a business...."even if they had to borrow the money from their parents" that should be framed and publicized as the truest Republican statement ever made. "Borrow From Parents!" ROTFLMAO!!!!!!

And when union workers don't get what they want, they use bullying and intimidation tactics..

How Anti-American is that?

[ame=http://youtu.be/z5CkDnU-fXo]Union Boss Violence and Intimidation - YouTube[/ame]

You're ignorant!

Before unions working people had nothing. No pension, no vacation, no approved absence from a job for any reason, no hospitilization(health care) and many companies paid in scrip and operated a company store which was the only place to redeem it. The railroads made small apartments out of boxcars and rented them to their employees. The bosses intimidated and sometimes mistreated employees who didn't rent one of the company apts. That way if they did give the employees a raise all they had to do was adjust the rent by enough to get it back.

In 1937 my dad ruptured himself lifting materials from a skid and the second day he missed work the company fired him. In west TN the unemployment was nearly 50% during those days and there were men waiting for any open job. Many folks ended up in county poor farms where those who were still able raised enough food on a small plot of land to feed everyone. All across this country there are unmarked graves at those old sites. That's the kind of scenario the Republican party would like to bring back. Fuck them and everybody who votes for them.

Unions, when first formed, started out to be a good idea. To help the hard working men. But, eventually, corruption and greed took over and now it's out of control. I can see why so many folks are jaded over unions. What is really laughable is how unions continue to be the ATM's for the democrats. Democrats don't have the backs of the unions.

Even Obama didn't want to support the Chicago teachers..

Obama wanted no part of the Chicago teachers' fight. He didn't want to antagonize Emanuel--a major campaign fundraiser and political ally. Nor did he want to alienate labor as he heads into the homestretch in this Presidential election.

...even though he was all about the fight for Wisconsin teachers..

And yet, Unions still insist on bank rolling the democrats...

You people are so ignorant. In 1948 a corporate executive earned $12,000-$15,000 a year. You say unions were good for the working man 60 years ago. The facts are that unions were good for all workers 60 years ago. What you don't know or won't admit is that businesses don't give a big rat's ass who they're fucking. Conclusion is that these days they look at one thing.....bottom line profits. The board of directors which nine times out of ten are loaded and selected by the CEO will approve anything he/she wants to keep their position. It's a stacked deck which people have swallowed....at least people who have dreams like Joe the Plumber........you know, like he might actually be the boss himself someday. I can see it now.....fantasy almost as rediculous as the Holly Bibble....comes from a septic tank pumper to the owner is one fell swoop......or joins a ghost floating on a cloud and flies off to paradise to live forever. LMAO!

LOL! Keep in mind that the Banks, Bush, Ben Bernanke and Hank Paulson crashed the economy. I can see why you didn't want to look all the way back to Reagan and the Bushes:

Asking the average conservative to explain the economy is like asking a special ed student to explain astrophysics. A lot of these people still believe in trickle down economics, lol.

asking the average liberal to explain equal opportunity vs equal outcome is like asking liberal college graduates to explain the Fourth of July....

One thing you can be certain of is that anyone who throws out the words "trickle down economics", as a slur, knows nothing about economics or trickle down fiscal policy.

The economy is easy to explain. It is the cummulative effect of the individual financial decisions of millions of people acting in their own financial interests, plus the effect of government fiscal decisions by politicians acting in their own political interests.

Which portion of the equation do you imagine is most honest?

I know one thing.....George Herbert Walker Bush called "Trickle Down" Voodoo Economics. I also know the idea never worked...not for a minute. After Reagan's tax cuts I remember a TV commercial which showed the annual gain for an ordinary middle class worker and a millionaire. In a years time the millionaire could use his/hers to buy a new Mercedes and the middle class worker had enough to buy a muffler for it.

Reagan assumed a manageable fiscal situation gave his tax cuts, emptied mental hospitals to see many of the patients end up homeless, on the streets, borrowed two trillion dollars on his way to he and Bush41 quadrupling the national debt to more than $4 trillion.....back in debt the way we were after the second world war.

Clinton came in, raised taxes while the Republicans were yelling that we would end up in a depression then created 22 million new jobs, balanced the budget, generated some surpluses in fy's 1999, 2000, 2001 and had things on track to completely eliminate the debt by this year. Bush43 took over, cut taxes twice, started two wars 10,000 miles away, ran them with emergency spending bills(off budget) and doubled the debt again. TRICKLE DOWN DOESN'T WORK UNLESS IT IS WARM PISS RUNNING DOWN THE WORKING MAN'S BACK!!

1) So you want to tax "wealth" now Comrade? What's funny is you think you're to the right of the left and you're solidly there espousing Marx just like the rest of them.

2) You realize I didn't object to the top 1% paying 40%, you did. So all this means they don't pay enough, Vladimir?

Amazing how business and economists think we know more about economics than liberal lawyers, isn't it? I mean WTF are we thinking?
