Something you need to know about US Constitution

Did you know that, to date, there have been more than 700 applications from
all 50 states to the US Congress requesting an Article V Convention be
convened to adopt new amendments to the Constitution. Even now, 38 state
legislatures (more than 2/3) have voted in favor of calling an Article V
Convention and placed an application before the Unites States Congress.
Each and every one of these applications has been summarily ignored by the
congress in DIRECT VIOLATION of Article V of the United States Constitution!

"We the people" are being denied our Constitutional RIGHT to call a
convention through the legislatures of our several states. Our congress --
THE PEOPLE'S CONGRESS -- is derelict in its duty to adhere to the will of
the people. They are ignoring this bounden duty and, as a result, are in
violation of the very Oath of Office they swore upon their election and
inauguration to Congress.

I encourage each and every one of you to first, contact your representatives
and senators and demand that they grant the application(s) before them to
call an Article V Convention and then join the fight for this noble cause by
becoming a member of the Friends of the Article V Convention a group of
patriots committed to upholding our Constitutional Republic!
The website is Welcome to Friends Of the Article V Convention .

There can be no nobler task for each of us as citizens of this greatest
nation on Earth than to hold our elected representatives accountable to
their Oath of Office and to the ideas and ideals this republic was founded
on. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent; whether you are
Conservative, Liberal or Libertarian, this cause is one for which we must
each take up the banner and rally behind its clarion call!

It is time that all men and women of good will and good conscience join this
most patriotic effort. If we are to survive as a free nation, a free people
and as a beacon of hope for all humanity, this is a calling we MUST heed.

No I did not know that.

Can you tell us what states have voted to reconvene a constitutional convention?

I'm finding it hard to believe that this is the first I've heard of thse 38 applications.

If this contention is real, I quite agree.

Article Five of the United States Constitution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

730 applications over 200 years

are you this stupid in real life?

Some of the requests I saw on your site in the 70s were years appart.

I think they would need to be all submitted in concurrent manner to be vailid.

Are you fighting for a balanced budget ammendment or just the right to this procedure?

There's no call for that, Del

You introduce a very interesting subject and people repond to it seriously and because you don't like what they said you insult them?

Truth matters' point is germane to the issue, is it not?

In order for there to be a constiutional convention 2/3s of the state legislatures much petition to hold this convention collectively.

The fact that one state or the other might have done so during entirely different sessions of Congress makes your argument that Congress is violating the constitution specious.

Now, can you tell us exactly how many state legislatures are CURRENTLY petitioning THIS session of Congress for this convention?

Hence the premise of this thread is utter bullshit.

Too bad.

I think it's TIME for the states to sieze control again of our Constitution, personally.

THAT methodology of reining in our increasingly imperial Federal government, rather than calling for an armed civil war (which, let's face it, some of you think is a good idea cause some of us can't wait to start shooting our fellow citizens) could REALLY solve some of the problems we're currently facing.

Have two thirds of the states submitted this?

Thirty one have, but three have rescinded their submissions. It is questionable whether the rescissions of Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana are valid, so with 33 required and 31 still potentially in the pro column just 2 more are needed.

States With Standing Call for a Constitutional Convention

The present events in Washington may be the catalyst that pushes inexorably into the call for the convention. This might be a second choice, but probably a temporarily satisfactory one for the seccessionist movement which has risen and is now bubbling up more than ever.

Keyword: secession (see "next page" )
