OK, let's not bash Republicans. Let's ask: Why should Republicans get a "second shot" at the nation? What will they bring to "heal the damage" that is here, for whatever reason it's here, it IS here. What are Republican solutions? What facts to have to back up those solutions? Start with their many successes from the 8 years before Obama took office. What will they do to keep that success going?
Because the Democrats were handed the "keys to the castle" with their Presidency and SuperMajority and STILL managed to fuck it up?
As I count heads in the Senate, I never saw the Democrats with 60 votes. I saw 58 and 2 independents. It always amazes me how people assume the independents would vote for whatever the democrats came up with when democrats have NEVER voted for something simply because the democrats came up with it. That's one thing the Democrats have over the GOP, there members are not required, and do not walk in lockstep.
No, republicans had their chance. Its time to give Democrats a second chance. Let them implement every Carter policy they can get through congress. Once America sees how wonderful liberal and socialist policies work, we'll never have to worry about conservatives again.
There is no reason to assume a party should be getting a shot. Currently 95% of all sitting congressmen have proven they do not deserve their position. Hence, I will be looking at replacing them with fiscal conservatives who believe in originalist understandings of the constitution and have either run a business or been in the private sector as an employee or employer. I'm sick of lawyers, career politicians, professors, teachers, public sector employees, activists, lobbyists or trust fund idiots who've never been forced to make or work for a profit in their life being put in charge of an economy. I don't care what party they're from as long as they follow that line.
It would depend on what their platform they are running on is. That is the key issue for me and I think the republican party is making a mistake if they think they are just going to walk in without any effort. They still have to win over voters with something. I would go for a significant reduction in income tax to something like below 20% and the elimination of the death tax and a BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT of some kind.
