Someone knew, even if Bush was clueless

That's what you get when your first priority in taking office is invading Iraq, not worrying about terrorist attacks.

In high school, I had a fake Tampa Tribune headline that said: "Bucs win Superbowl!" It happened 17 years later. I am forwarding that information to the FBI. Thanks for your public service. :stupid:

So we are resorting to geocities sites now for credible sources?

Anyway, this has all been dealt with before. The information was available to them that possible attacks involving planes would occur. Unfortunately the incommunication between agencies caused our intelligence groups to miss the boat on the final outcome. That and the fact that they receive innumerable number of threats everyday from innumerable number of sources. It takes time to investigate to make sure each threat isnt real. They simply miscalculated that threat and no one perceived that they would fly the planes into buildings. The consensus thought was that planes would be hijacked or blown up as has been the tactic. However they didnt have enough information to go to consider it a viable threat.

Hind sight is certainly 20/20.

Paine would have said "cheers," no? I find it most intriguing that the constraints of reason do not burden people who post tripe like Gabriella posted. It is a geocities cheese site, totally without reference. Egads.

The fact that you cant understand the connection between Iraq and the War on Terror speaks volumes about the state of the education system in this nation. It's not really a difficult concept. Why cant you understand it?

A better source for this claim might have been the August 6th, 2001 memo that the president et al saw titled 'Bin Laden determined to attack within US' that described 'preparations for hijacking' [passenger planes]. Its all in black and white.. :read:

Couple that with the disregarded Richard Clarke anti-Al Qaeda suggestions (which Rice denied existed on 3/22/04, saying no Al Qaeda initiatives had been handed over to the new administration) and the president's 'Saddam, Iraq. Find the connection' statement in the days following 9/11, and it begins to paint a pretty clear picture as to the (at best) negligence beforehand and the ideology-driven policy afterwards.

How would you characterize the ideology behind the policy? What is offensive to you About PNAC objectives?
