Some States Weighing Marijuana Reform

This is absolutely ridiculous. If this happens, the CIA won't be able to legally spy on South American countries, tens of thousands of law enforcement professionals will be out of a job and hundreds of prisons will have to close.

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington is one of four states where measures to legalize and regulate marijuana have been introduced, and about two dozen other states are considering bills ranging from medical marijuana to decriminalizing possession of small amounts of the herb.

"In terms of state legislatures, this is far and away the most active year that we've ever seen," said Ethan Nadelmann, executive director of the New York-based Drug Policy Alliance, which supports reforming marijuana laws.

Nadelmann said that while legalization efforts are not likely to get much traction in state capitals anytime soon, the fact that there is such an increase of activity "is elevating the level of public discourse on this issue and legitimizing it."

I hope Washington State passes something soon, we are number two in production in the US and it is our third most produced crop. Also most of the BC bud is coming across the border in Washington. It would save Washington Law Enforcement plenty of money and would generate tax dollars, and with the economy Washington State needs a cash cow.

We need to legalize hemp and fast. Ron Paul supports it. Big oil does not.

Interestingly enough, North Dakota is working on that very thing. Wanna know why? Seems that Canada is the largest grower of hemp in the world, and they've gotten very good at it.

Seems that Corvette is now building the bodies out of fiberglass made with hemp.

But, in the interests of being practical, frugal, efficient and smart, think on this........

The only difference between hemp and cannabis is that cannabis produces buds, hemp doesn't.

Wouldn't it make more sense to grow medicine along with the fiber?

Hemp has little to no THC. It's a cousin to MJ. It's the perfect plant for humans. It provides food additives, lubricants, paper, cloth, cardboard, fuel, medicinal qualities etc., etc.. and it has been used quite successfully in phytoremediation, which is it cleans soil where it grows..it can actually extract heavy metals from dirt. We can import it from Canada and make value added stuff from it, but we can't grow it. Talk about unconstitutional.......

Well.........the only reason pot is illegal is because of the racists in government from the 40's and 50's.

And.........if you support keeping cannabis illegal, you're a closet racist.

Why? It was made illegal in the first place so that the whites could lock up the browns and the blacks.

Hmmm........wonder if Aryan racists smoke pot?

Pot's illegal because they want to keep hemp illegal because it threatens big corporations. Big oil, Hearst, when he had a huge newspaper monopoly and the forests to cut down to print it on.........gov't wants people to be confused about the evilness of such a baaaad plant.....and they are, for the most part........this is early spin that has kept on keepin on.....misdirection, misinformation campaigns from the past......
