Some free country we live in huh

...lemonade stands may not be operated on village property...

If they were in their yard, on private property, that may have been a different issue.

And yes, this IS some free country we live in. :slap:

"Some free country we live in huh"

Yes, we in fact live in a free country, where our rights and liberties are acknowledged and safeguarded as can be found nowhere else.

Liberty manifests as both freedom to and freedom from, where citizens through their elected representative express the will of the people, and enact necessary, proper, and Constitutional regulatory measures pursuant to the public good – and where there is no Constitutional 'right' to operate a lemonade stand.

The fabric of this country consists of two things - a piece of cloth and a ream of paper.

Our Flag and our Constitution.

Cloth and paper - two of the most delicate and perishable of materials.

What they represent however are a history a present and a future that cannot and should not ever fail, ever falter, and never ever surrender to subversion or subrogation.

That is not freedom, that is mob rule. That is 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.

Do you see the part where you said you have to have a constitutional right to operate a lemonade stand? So you have to ask for permission first? Freedom is asking for permission first?

Oh and by the way, we are ranked 20th in overall freedom, so yes it can be found more so in 19 other countries than us.

The Seinfeld's were on public property, not on private property. There is obviously a law or ordinance in place against such enterprises on village (public) property.

If you consider constitutionally enacted law as "mob rule", then you probably view scofflaws as Anarchists.

No.

leftist freedom is paying for permission.

paying so much you don't bother to ask, which is your freedom of choice.

You can't make that up, but that is how they think.

But should neighbors not have the right to complain it the lemonade stand is causing a parking problem? I use to have a neighbor who had garage sales a half dozen times a year. It was really a part time business he was operating with a large tent in his yard. He would advertise, put up dozens of signs and attract hundred of cars that blocked our driveway, took up every available parking place on the block. I thought about calling the police a number times but didn't because I didn't want to start a war with my neighbor. So I'm not quick to condemn these neighbors without knowing all the facts.

Gotz nothing to do with the Constitution counselor.. It's overzealous regulation at the local level.. Same regulations that prevent feeding the homeless. Or insisting that perfectly good food go to the dump. Or requiring you to compost or separate your food waste. MOST of the licensing at the state and local level serves only to create cartels and serve special interests. That's why caskets aren't sold at Walmart. Or why florists or hairbraiders are required to be licensed.

Gets to a point where if you REALLY want freedom -- you need to read the city ordinances before you move in..
Breath of fresh air leaving Cali for Tennessee.. Better run, better financed and DEFINITELY --- more freedom...
