When the government shuts down industry and eliminates jobs, it has to do something that will allow the people to continue to live, though they no longer are able to work.

This is socialism. It's the way it works. Control all commodities, take over the banks, and create shortages. So while you're forcing your work force into inactivity, the fact that you aren't producing means you also experience shortages. People start going hungry.

We're a rich country and until now we've been able to absorb that loss. But we've reached the end of our profit margin and people are starting to realize hey, this isn't sustainable.

As for the OP...

If you've been on food stamps for more than 2 years without a disability preventing you from working or some other damn good reason, you should get cut off. Nobody stays on this program for long if they are mentally and physically able to provide for themselves.

Hmmmm...

I'd say if anybody truly benefits from the food stamps programs its we Americans who are not having to deal with 43 million starving neighbors.

A truly hungry mob very quickly elects to ignore the social contract to get what they need.

And while I have absolutely no doubt that many you gun-smart guys wouldn't mind having to pop a starving American seeking to rob you once in a while?

I seriously doubt you'd be happy having to live in your fortress under seige by the have-nots every damned day.

The civil war I know some of you guys are so looking forward to?
