Soldiers moved to boarder

I will point your attention to the current immigration debacle as the result of Americans trying to take care of our National interests first. It's close to impossible anymore.

It is my opinion however, having seen the Turks mass at the border before, that ensuring there is no spillover into Turkey if military action is taken against Iran is their true motive. I just don't see Turkey as an active participant in any military action against Iran.

But, I could be wrong. It's happened once or twice.
Ah but I never said Turkey was positioning itself to conduct operations inside Iran, though they could well be. I think the positioning is more for the reason you indicate. However, it has the added advantage of disrupting (along with US forces in Iraq) and land connection between Syria and Iran as well as preventing foreign terrorists from transiting between Syria and Iran. All of that is very advantageous to US and other Western allies.

As for the illegal alien problem and our porous borders, methinks that is more an indication of our leaders (current and former) IGNORING our national interests and subverting them to the wishes of the PC crowd and liberals.

TSK= Turkish Armed Forces

TSK's deploying of troops to boarders is still ongoing. Genereal Chief of Staff Hilmi Özkök together with KKK Land Forces General Büyükanit inspected troops in boarder region.
First they met with Turkish 2nd Army General Sükrü Sarisik and then went with him to the boarder town of Derecik. There they met with Gendarmerie General Selahatin Ugurlu and hold a conference which's agenda is hidden.
The same time Air Force general Faruk Cömert in Headquarters in Ankara held a press conference and assured Turkish public to be convinced that Turkish Army will scratch Terrorism from its source.
Tomorrow it is expected that current Generals located in Derecik will fly to Hakkari and inspect there special mountain commando".

Deployment ongoing
After Special commandos from Kayseri and Bolu were brought to boarder these days, today there were large transports of armored TSK material. Many tanks, Howitzers and other stuff were being photografed during their transport through town of Yüksekova.

For Kabul protection, for Kandil mountains questions

US is wanting under NATO umbrella 1.000 more Turkish soldiers for protection of Kabul. Turkey is sending a a further mobilized team of 1.000 Soldiers to Kabul. The same time, US is not allowing Turkey to send 1 soldier to North-Iraq's Kandil mountains where PKK has their bases.

In Ankara is a bitter concern growing. First we will try to give answer what this bitter concern is:
Turkey is sending another 1.000 mobilized soldiers for protection of Kabul.
Last days interview with NATO Represantative to Afghanistan Hikmet Cetin acknowlegded this and said, that these forces will be deployed within this month to Afghanistan.

Ok. So what is the duty of these further soldiers to existing Turkish soldiers in Afghanistan?

To protect Kabul's saftey and also to ensure Kabul's government authority to the town of Vardak north to Kabul.
In other words: Anti-Terrorism.

Now we come to the bitter question. For this we want first contribute to you a statement by a TSK commander and a diplomat:

"Just yesterday we have lost a TSK officer and a commander to Terrorism. One day before we lost 6 Soldiers. And the reason for this are the PKK-camps in North-Iraq. The mine that killed our officer came from North-Iraq. Guns and explosives come from there. To eliminate these camps we want to go into North-Iraq. But the same US which is wanting further troops from us for Afghanistan is preventing the elimination of PKK-camps in North-Iraq."

General Ates: They are laughing at us

They are calling us Turks to Afghanistan because they can not make it alone there. To present Turkish soldiers there we will send further troops. But the same Nato ally is laughing at us in case of PKK in North-Iraq. What interpretation of NATO is this? And even further our new Troops we will send there for Anti-terrorism. This is laughable. Whole world is laughing at us.

North-Iraq

Turkey is wanting to intervene in North-Iraq for some times now.
Until one month ago KKK Land forces Büykanit (Chief of staff in August) said, that we could intervene in Iraq. Now he changed his rhetoric. He now says: we will intervene in North-Iraq and the legitimation will be UN resolutions.

Yes it is true: Turkey is sending further troops into Afghan mountains in a time when in our own Mountains Turks are being bombed.
The motive for Turkey sending more troops to Afghanistan could be soften reactions of USA when Turks will intervene in North-Iraq.

Sounds like a fair assessment that Turkey is sending more troops so that, politically, the West won't be able to say much when Turkey goes after it's terrorists.

Ottoman military bands are thought to be the oldest variety of military marching band in the world.

It is believed that individual intrumentalists may have been mentioned in the 8th-century-CE Orkhon inscriptions, the oldest written sources of the people who would eventually become the modern Turks[citation needed]. Such military bands as the mehters, however, were not definitively mentioned until the 13th century[citation needed]. The notion of a military marching band, such as those in use even today, began to be borrowed from the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century. The sound associated with the mehterân also exercised an influence on European classical music, with composers such as Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven all writing compositions inspired by or designed to imitate the music of the mehters.

If you recall sir, I said that Turkey was preparing to go after the Kurd`s in Iraq, and was only looking for an excuse.

Now, don`t get me wrong, can`t say I`d blame Turkey for kickin` some Kurdist ass for the terrorist acts committed against Turkey.

I just bring make this point to show, that if others sit on their hands, a nation must act for its best self interest.

Wouldn`t you agree?

Yes, i agree.
But seeing the world 90% the same and 10% different from American-Turkish view does not mean we will give up our intersts in those 10%, especially when time started where blood is flowing.
The best thing would be, when you bomb those terrorists. If not, we will and this will lead to a more complicated situation.

Nevertheless:

1974: turkey intervenes in cyprus with success. USA makes embargo on Turkey.
1991: against russias threat of embargo, turkey blockades the armenian border
1990s: turkey forced greece to abolish the 12 miles plan, by calling out the casus belli
1998: turkey forced syria (with military ultimatum) to banish PKK-Head öcalan. Later Öcalan is being caught while he hided with backing of Greece in Greek embassy to Nairobi.

Interesting article from today in "Aksam".
http://www.aksam.com.tr/yazar.asp?a=35794,10,5

Wake up, the negotiating table has long being established in Washington-Ankara line. PKK is not the negotiating piece but an argument.
Güler Kömürcü / Ankara

Table located in Washington, thing negotiated is IRAN. PKK is only an argument by USA. Also Kirkuk and Kurdish authonomy. On the table is a parliament ballot as it was with Iraq in March 2003.
USA wants to deploy ten-thousands of Soldiers in Turkey. Besides they want not only Incirlik, but also beginning with Trabzon military port 9 bases for Navy and Air Force.
Yes, we are experiencing these days important developments. USA is giving messages: "When you let Turkey make an US base in coming Iran-Conflict we will resolve PKK issue. The reason why PKK is still living is anyway to put you on track in concerns of Iran."
This American behaviour is extortion in cost of Turkish lives as we experience these days.

What signs are the recent troop deployments to boarders?
Ist this a message from Turkey to USA that Turks won't commerce PKK against Iran?
In my opinion the recent troop deployments is exactly this message: "Don't play with us or we will resolve PKK issue in marching into North-Iraq and complicateing the situation for you more than it is anyway now.".
This could even result in accaptance of Iran's request to Turkey these days to hold a common military training.

Not only Turkey has to make a decision but USA also. We don't believe USA will strike Iran on its own together with UK and Israel. Iraq experience has taught Americans a lesson. So what is the situation now?
USA is playing one by one its cards out. It is a common fact that USA supports PKK. Recent PKK bombings in Turkey is a so-called decision-guiding for Ankara not to take wrong decisions in case of Iran. Next steps by USA will be to indicate that Kirkuk will go to Kurdish regime in North-Iraq which Turkey opposes to death.

USA is more than ever in need of Turkey. And USA realized that Iran plans go to nowhere with AKP government. This is being indicated by strong backing of General Büyükanit who will be next Chief of General in August. An strong anti-terrorist, secularist general.
On last years ending he went to Washington and stayed there for 1 week. Press coverage was unnormal for such military visits. Even like coverage in culture part of newspaper there was reported that he was invited to an evening dinner by a US General, and this general even tried to sing for Büyükanit in Turkish.
USA gave up its hope with government and is now intensify relations with Army. Of which Büyükanit will lead from August 31 till August 2008.
Turkey is heading to elections. Normal period of elections is fall 2007. AKP government is under fire. With a high chance there will be elections in 2006 breaking AKP alone government. Ensuring four parties to go into parliament. In last elections only 2 parties achieved to go to parliament. This situation led to a situation where AKP with 25% total votes ensured 75 % majority of parliament.
With comeing 4 parties into parliament AKP's influence will fall under 40 % of total parliamentary seats, even sending them to opposition and form a CHP-MHP-DYP government.
USA is speculating on exactly this. Plus General Büyükanit will make AKP's life very much harder when he gets to power in August and will deal with elements current General Özkök didn't dealed.
USA has not only withdrawn its support from AKP but also from Özkök. Otherwise USA had invited Özkök to USA and not Büyükanit.

Will Turkey commerce Iran against PKK?
No. Even Büyükanit will not make this. Now waiting time has begon for Washington. After August 31 there will be major developments in Ankara-Washington line. We are faceing crucial developments in these days.

Franks: Deal with Those Opposing Northern Front in Turkey
By Cihan News Agency, Anadolu News Agency (aa), Washington
Published: Wednesday, March 22, 2006
zaman.com

As the occupation in Iraq enters its fourth year, speculation about the pre-war situation continues.

Reviewing the facts on the Iraqi occupation in the book titled "Cobra-2" published in America, it reads that the United States can allow Turkish troops to cross the border and enter Kerkuk (Kirkuk) if a northern front to Iraq is opened from Turkey.

The situation of Turkey-US relations before and during the Iraqi occupation was highlighted in the book written by The New York Times reporter Michael Gordon and retired General Bernard Trainor.

The one time Army Forces Central Commander Gen. Tommy Franks suggested dealing with those opposing this idea in Turkey, according to the book that notes codename "Hadji" was given to the plans relating to Turkey. The White House made too many demands on Ankara, so Turks opposed the war over economic concerns, as well as worries that Iraq may be divided and a Kurdish state established.

Marine Corps Commander Gen. James Jones decided to open a front in Turkey; and this view was adopted by Franks, too, "Cobra-2" reads further.

The administration in Washington proposed millions of dollars in an attempt to conquer the hearts of Turks and revealed to them their plans for the war. In the negotiations, it was agreed that 20,000 Turkish soldiers would pass through the Northern Iraq border and take up a position, as their "reward," to prevent the rush of refugees to Turkey and any attempts from the terror network PKK to infiltrate the country. According to the agreement, Turkish soldiers would also possess the power to establish law and order in Kerkuk (Kirkuk), which is rich in oil, if American commanders believe that Ankara's help is needed.

Economy card played against deployment note

The same book predicts it will take longer for US forces to enter the north of Iraq and secure the oil regions in Kerkuk (Kirkuk) without a northern front. The plan was to send a force of 35,000 soldiers at least from Turkey, and Franks gave instruction that the American forces must make sure that the Turks understand what this money means for the next two generations in Turkey. The general ordered money be spent on the issue, and to put the ships in place. Determine who is saying "no" and find a solution. Use my name. Set the conditions in order to put a time pressure in place, states Franks in the book.

A short time remains before the occupation begins, the Turkish Parliament’s rejection of the northern front causes problems for the US strategy, the Bush team discussed how they will respond to Turkey and the harshest reaction was given by Vice President Dick Cheney's assistant, Scooter Libby, the book said. Libby was reported to have said: "Forget the Turks. Let’s withdraw the fourth Infantry Division. They’ve rejected millions of dollars of US donation. Let the financial markets do what they will to the Turkish economy."

I a report excites nmitten increasing tensions between the USA and Iran about the substantial development of the US military operational readiness level in the neighboring country Turkey attention.

The outstanding Turkish newspaper "Cumhuriyet" announced the USA on Monday, wanted three new naval bases in the south and in the west of Turkey to furnish. The bases should have deep-water ports, so that they could be headed for also by US aircraft carriers. The US Ambassador in Ankara, Ross Wilson, called the report wrong. The USA stressed no bases in Turkey, said Wilson.

The location Iskenderun at the Turkish south coast is considered already as safe, reported against it "Cumhuriyet". The port lies in the proximity for decades of the Air Force base Incirlik already used by the USA. The two other locations are Urla and Mordogan to the Aegaeiskueste, whereby it gives question marks in the case of Mordogan still.

Rice in Ankara expects

In Turkey already since longer one speculates, the USA could use Turkish bases for an attack on Iran. Officially this is disclaimed. In the coming weeks US Foreign Minister Condoleezza Rice in Ankara is expected.
