Why does the Bible say the evil cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed?

Was Ancient Egypt possible Sodom?

Many cities and civilizations have crumbled in world history, including mighty Rome and Arthur's England/Camelot. However, two stand out for their tragic demise --- Egypt and Pompeii. As the Jews fled from the clutches of the Pharaoh's, Egypt collapsed under the weight of terrible scourges and plagues. Pompeii was a place by Rome which was completely turned to ash because of the eruption of a nearby (now famous) volcano. All we have to remember Egypt and Pompeii now is archaeological relics/artifacts and of course elegiac art.



Egypt was a place of grand architecture and geometric ambition. The Pharaoh's built elaborate palaces and tombs, and Egyptians had slaves build the great pyramids. Some even theorize that some assisting aliens from other planets helped the Egyptians build the enigmatic pyramids. Well, Egypt was also a place of great fascism-apathy and power-condoning, which is why some religious scholars suggest it was the evil placed known as Sodom (described in the Christian Bible). Sodom, like Egypt, was 'swept up' in the mystical forces of denial and indulgence. Was Egypt a place of great 'sodomy' and power-lust (like Sodom)? Why was it destroyed?



There are various depictions of Egyptian queens and kings/pharaohs engaging in amorous sex publicly. These renderings complement scholarly suggestions that Egypt, with its moral indulgences, paralleled the behavioral signatures of the Biblical doomed place of Sodom. Was Egypt the first civilization 'ritualizing' unscrupulous sodomy and lust?

Now we come to Pompeii, a place of great joy-of-life and pageantry and street-fairs and bazaars and even aspired palaces of wealth and fortune. It was generally a place of great pedestrian vibrancy, but some scholars suggest it may have been a secret place of great temptation and bravado. After all, the residents of Pompeii were daring enough to seek shelter in a place by a deadly volcano, suggesting they had a sort of 'danger-abandon.' These scholars also cite various archaeological/artistic renditions of the flair of Pompeii as clues to the possible fact that Pompeii may have been the place known as Gomorrah, described in the Christian Bible as sinful and doomed as Sodom.



Perhaps the residents of Pompeii, before they were turned to ash because of the terrible eruption of the volcano they lived next to, engaged in the kinds of carnal behaviors and wildness-experimentations we see as characteristic of the Biblical doomed city of Gomorrah. Was Pompeii, like Gomorrah, a place where lifestyle-arrogances 'masked' an intimacy-perversion like wanton/indiscreet oral sex (or adultery)? Why was Pompeii destroyed?

Sodom and Gomorrah were cities of the plain that were destroyed long before the time of abraham.

They had wool hats for shade outdoors, and obviously all the spinning and weaving was was done indoors. You don't think there were old spinsters in Sodom and Gomorrah, do you? Don't forget, Lot's wife was mortified when she looked back.

I suspect she was not turned into salt but was made barren.

There were no cities of the plain in Abraham's time. They were long gone because of some natural disaster. But, its a morality tale... You know, didactic literature.
