Yesterday I posted Bernie's opinion on Venezuela, just for him to simultaneously comment on Cuba.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, the frontrunner for the Democrats' presidential nomination, doubled down on his support for some of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro's policies, saying in an interview that aired Sunday, "it's unfair to simply say everything is bad."

"We're very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba but you know, it's unfair to simply say everything is bad. You know? When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing? Even though Fidel Castro did it?" Sanders told Anderson Cooper.

In a resurfaced speech given at the University of Vermont in 1986, Sanders praised the socialist policies implemented in Cuba by the Castro regime and criticized bipartisan efforts in the U.S. to tamp down on Castro's spread of communism.

Bernie Sanders defends Fidel Castro's socialist Cuba: 'Unfair to simply say everything is bad'

Yes, pretty much everything that socialist do is bad.

Yup, those sneaky literacy policies will bring the world to an end.

Yeah, it's the same ideological indoctrination you would like to see. "Death to America!" "Death to America!" "Death to America!"

Other leftards wanting to defend socialist crapholes?

If Bernie was to win we would in short order see Russian Nuclear missiles in Cuba....JFK would roll over in his grave....

Especially putting the Cuban people's needs ahead of those from Standard Oil or Domino Sugar company, ITT, Texaco.....

Those companies gave Cubans real jobs.

Castro took away their freedom and potential for wage inflation.

Leftists just don't see it that way. If government gives you a handout, why not just take it and vote Dem?

True Americans like freedom, democracy, and capitalism, the right to choose your profession, your employer.

Bernie supporters think freedom is totally "overrated" compared to getting a government check and doing nothing with your life.

He wants to create a society where there are only drones and then the socialist elite, no one else.

Most Cubans lived in poverty and were illiterate, like most 3rd world countries under despotic US economic control. That's one of the reasons why their Revolution succeeded. But he made an enemy out of the US and most Cubans continued to suffer. But they could read all about it, sometimes.

LOL!!!

Oh those evil capitalists going over to Cuba to give Cubans quality jobs that actually produce surplus wealth - the horrors...

Man oh man, wouldn't it be great if every Cuban just sat there doing nothing all day like like you and yours with his or her hand out so that "da government" can put some money in it???

Spot on. There is only one view, one "opinion," his, and if you don't like it....

Socialists/communists are not "democrats." They don't like democracy. They like dictatorship.

The US has been attempting to destabilize and bring down Venezuela ever since Chavez tossed out US corporate interests who were pirating and profiteering off of another nation's natural resources, which America does all over the world.

Or you can simply promise concentrated capital all kinds of free stuff, it's a much more targeted streamlined approach and the positive feedback loop has already been well established. Oh look, now a representative democracy = dictatorship, but only when the unsubstantial people are included.

Socialism is so much superior that US has been able to defeat every socialist nation ever without firing a shot.

Well, this is obviously what the party is afraid of. Probably making things even worse is that, as a True Believer, Bernie probably won't put much effort into trying to soften his message.

The even MORE interesting part of this will be his veep pick, assuming he's allowed to win the nomination. Would he stick with his principles and pick another True Believer, or would he compromise them and pick a moderate?
.

Those who want "free stuff" end up the opposite of free = dependent....

And that's just the point. The aim of the LEFT in a Democracy is to achieve the "critical mass of socialism" by getting more than half of the electorate addicted to some form of taxpayer funded handout. A government check is more addictive than heroine. Once hooked, the people behave like.... Bernie supporters, and the very very wealthy like that too, because their existing wealth is safe, and a bigger state quashes the "threat" of others getting wealthy too....
