Excerpt:

"Pull up your pants and buy a belt 'cause no one wants to see your underwear or the crack of your butt," he said. "If you walk into somebody's office with your hair uncombed and a pick in the back, and your shoes untied, and your pants half down, tattoos up and down your arms and on your neck, and you wonder why somebody won't hire you? They don't hire you 'cause you look like you're crazy," the mayor said. He added: "You have damaged your own race."

I really don't think tattoos and piercings are a racial issue.... just plain stupidity.

The last line in the article you quoted mentions..."You have damaged your own race."

Add to that, the baggy pants and picks in their hair, it really looked like he was pointing the finger at blacks.

Usually, societies evolve.

There are times of course when their evolution looks A LOT like disintegration.

And the older one gets the more that evolution feels like degeneration, too.

Just about the time you're starting to feel like you and your society are on the same page, another generation comes along and starts evolving your society into something that you don't feel like you're a part of.

Happens to every generation, folks.

Take this from a guy who still thinks leather patches on the elbows of a tweed sports jacket are stylin'.

Your society is going to keep changing faster than you will.

Ours is devolving.
