There were investigations of electoral fraud during both 2004 and 2008. Support for these investigations came from liberals both times.

Certain states have a lot of issues with electoral fraud. Ohio and Florida are pretty bad about it, and historically, Chicago is a city that is known for its electoral fraud.

Electoral fraud is unfortunately something that America has a significant problem with in multiple states and cities. I don't see the investigation of it as a partisan issue.
