So what do Democrats really want

When you have a lack of demand in an economy, the government MUST be the demand of last resort.

The stimulus saved us from another Great Depression.

Now the Republicans in the House are going to let us default and sent the economy down, so they can win the next election.

Their is a special place in hell for the Republicans.

The Stimulus is an Epic Fail! Therefore, we need more Stimulus!

The Stimulus kept the recession going, just like it was supposed to

We have had 16 straight months of job growth and the economy has been growing.

Now the Republican are going to send us into a recession to win the election.

They will burn in hell.

No... that isn't true. It's that cuts had to be linked with raising revenue... as any rational plan would require.

So raising taxes on American citizens is more important than raising the debt ceiling?

In order to curb future deficits (we're not going to get a balanced budget anytime soon, so reducing the deficits must be the certain goal) can be done three ways, by cutting spending, by increasing revenue by closing many tax write-offs or directly increasing taxes, or a combination of both. Considering the Bush tax cuts were meant to be temporary and that revenues have dropped 30% since 2000, raising taxes just a little bit really isn't asking a whole lot. And the fact is, Obama is suggesting a combination that involves four times more in spending cuts than tax increases. Yet the Republicans balk at this.

Truthfully, I'm sick and tired of the argument that spending is the problem, because the truth is that revenue is a much bigger problem. But the Republicans want to take us back to 1920. Sorry, but I really don't think most Americans support that. It's time for the Republicans to realize they are not running the show completely, so compromise is necessary to accomplish anything under these circumstances. If in 2012 Americans want to cut the size of government in half and reduce taxes even more, then they can all vote for the Tea Party Republicans, and then you guys can do whatever you want to destroy this country.
