I for one will be taking my boat out to Eagle Lake...with the kids and dog in tow...wanna burn some of that Iraqi gas...lol...this will be Saturday and Sunday....then on Monday the 4th will have a bbq at home with the kids and watch the fireworks and parade...I'm kinda lucky to live in a small town...the parade is just a block away and I can see the fireworks from my driveway....so anyone have any suggestions for the bbq besides the standard burgers, dogs or steak...open for suggestions! :cheers2:

hey angel, bbq chicken and chops are great and something a little different!!!

we are celebrating the 4th/my younger brother's b day on the third with my family, and on the fourth are probably going to grill out at home and do a few fireworks. My neighbors will probably keep us fairly entertained since they have been shooting stuff off for about two weeks allready! I'll probably take the kids to a parade too.I love the fourth of July!!!!

I will be drinking my very first batch of Home Brewed Beer.

And of course I will be Grilling Steaks

and going to the parade

Wow did I say getting lucky? Man, I gotta go easy on the ol keyboard...... or the beer.

On a serious note, just like Veterans Day & Memorial Day, I will also visit the cemetary and attend Morning Colors.

We will be grilling out with another family (my best friend), seven kids between us! The kids have their annual water balloon fight, and s'more roast. Our friends get a whole lot of fireworks to shoot off in their backyard (to frighten the cows and deer ;) ). I'm in charge of eats... Ribeyes for us, hot dogs for the kids, corn on the cob, watermelon, potato casserole, Jello jigglers, Robert Redford dessert. My friend has a Bunn slushie machine, so the kids will have slushies. Just hanging out and talking.

Alternative to steaks.... one year we made chicken shish kabobs, marinated in beer, butter, soy sauce, and Mrs. Dash. Skewered with onions, green peppers, & mushrooms. Good stuff!

Or do you mean Mm's? It's HOT here...96 with 70% humidity. Breathing takes effort. The week of the 4th, the band is opening for Grand Funk & The Rascals. Gig is outside. Beating the drums in this heat is no picnic.

a little side note here: I realize that there are many others, that have to work in the heat, and I feel sorry for them, too. And those serving in the military, well, all this pales in comparison. But too many times people think that all these guys do is get on a stage & have fun.

with giving the kids hot dogs while you eat steaks...my kids would look at me with puppy dog eyes and drool...then I would have to give them my steak and eat dogs..always have to serve em what I eat... :halo:

Marinate those chops in Lea&Perrins’ Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce overnight, you won’t regret it.. (1 inch chops min.)
Ratio...about 2:1 in zip lock bag...turn over in the morning..

PS...Don't overcook em.

Home brews kick ass! do you have the real set up that requires the whole fermenting process and sterilized bottles?.....
One of my customers was a 70 yr old hillbilly. Was still working hard installing fence. But he was an o'l moonshiner, too. Was making a batch back home & selling it here for $100 a gallon. Had it ALL sold. I learned alot about stills & the process. I left before I got my free moonshine.

My friend probably makes some of the best brews I have ever tasted, mostly ambers with little to no carbonation at all, just thick brews! :alco:

Well, I got a Mr Beer. I compared it to the real setups and it does the same thing. Mr B makes money off the premixed recipes. I use my own ingredients and scale the usual five gallon mix down to two anna half.

First Batch should be golden ale. Picture Corona without the mexican accent.

Humidity, heat, outdoors... I'd still give a sensitive body part to open for Grand Funk and the Rascals!

Have you ever tried the Korean style ribs? That is what we will BBQ along with burgers, etc. The ribs are the cross cut kind and if you take them and marinate them, they are DELICIOUS!
