Joseph Smith (Mormon originator) wrote things down, a long time ago, too, and millions believe what HE said, too. If the age of the "document" means something to you, let's go back to whatever bs the Mesopotamians or Egyptians believed. :)

It is so much easier to trash the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution if one accepts your logic. Think about it! But since you bring up the book of Mormon, the simple fact is that that book as been shown to need the Bible. The Bible doesn't need the book of Mormon. That point alone casts doubt on the BoMs authenticity.

The importance of the age isn't just that a document is old. That is generally irrelevant. What is important is that it is apostolic which it cannot be unless it was written in the 1st century CE. This is why so many books were not used in the New Testament. Church fathers knew that they were not written in the proper time frame and thus they could not be apostolic.

Always wonder why no one ever bothers trying the Joseph Smith thing again, but this time make a scientificly consistent version no one could refute. :)
