I think that is the question. I've head some business's complain they'll be hurt by losing their Salvadoran labor, who work sub-cheap. But wouldn't we be better off having Americans work for min-wage?

On the other hand, everywhere I've lived has had ethnic restaurants staffed by families who came over in chain migration.

I do think it will help wages...and manufacturing is coming back....they don't sent plants overseas to build robots....
as for restaurants....that sucks...but I'm willing to miss out on those for the country.

Well, even if maftring comes back, it will never employ the people it did because it just takes fewer bodies to build stuff. And the bodies it does take, all require technical training of some kind. Even the unemployed coal miners complain that they are highly skilled. and they are, but not in the right skills for today.
