So on to the main point

Trump lied when he said he wanted to Make America Great Again.

The New York dipshit needs to visit the Statue of Liberty to discover what made us great.

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

It is a nice idea, but can't work in reality.
It worked fantastically and made our country great.

We’ve already got our own black population and after decades of being given every opportunity, they still live in squalor. So why is there any reason to beleive new third worlders will be any different?

The left only want more refugees in order to turn America into a shithole. That is their main goal after all.
You are one of those LBJ Democrats we keep hearing so much about.

That was during the industrial revolution. The level of skill wasn't that high and there wasn't things like HUD and EBT cards. So if it didn't work out for them not much burden for us.

Also a good amount of those people wanted to be American.

of the shit hole question.....

WHY do we want low skilled people coming here?
I think that is the question. I've head some business's complain they'll be hurt by losing their Salvadoran labor, who work sub-cheap. But wouldn't we be better off having Americans work for min-wage?

We certainly don't need assembly line mftring employees

On the other hand, everywhere I've lived has had ethnic restaurants staffed by families who came over in chain migration.
I do think it will help wages...and manufacturing is coming back....they don't sent plants overseas to build robots....
as for restaurants....that sucks...but I'm willing to miss out on those for the country.

Do you know the title of that poem?

Do you know what the Statue of Liberty represents for the Old World?

Do you know what Emma Lazarus meant by "the golden door" at the end?

You are buying into the fucked up interpretation of that poem. It has much less to do with immigration and much more to do with free-market capitalism.
Immigration is what helped our economy to grow, dumbass. Immigration is our lifeblood. And our economy will never grow robustly without immigration.

The words and the meaning are unequivocal. Except to retards.

Sorry we were great before the Statue...and that was not on the Statue....it was made to help fund the pedestal it's on.

The beginning of The New Colossus:

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

MOTHER OF EXILES.

immigration is great.....but we want people who love the country and do the process and actually contribute to it.

The Most Entrepreneurial Group in America Wasn't Born in America

Immigrants Play a Disproportionate Role in American Entrepreneurship

Immigrant entrepreneurs are vital to American prosperity

About 40 percent of our Ph.D. scientists and engineers were born in another country, Orrenius writes. People tend to focus on illegal or low-skilled immigration when discussing immigrants and often do not recognize the tremendous contribution of high-skilled immigrants.

A new study, released last week, throws new information into the debate over foreign workers who arrive in the U.S. on such specialty visas.

The report, based on telephone surveys with 2,054 companies and projections by researchers at the University of California at Berkeley and Duke University, says about 25 percent of the technology and engineering companies launched in the U.S. in the past decade had at least one foreign-born founder.

Immigrants Become Founding Fathers

These immigrant founders tended to be highly educated—96 percent held bachelor’s degrees and 74 percent held graduate or postgraduate degrees, with 75 percent of these degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics-related fields. The vast majority of these company founders didn’t come to the United States as entrepreneurs 52 percent came to study, 40 percent came to work, and 5.5 percent came for family reasons. Only 1.6 percent came to start companies in America.

Even though these founders immigrated for other purposes initially, they typically started their companies just 13.25 years after arriving in the United States. And, rather than settling in well-established immigrant gateways, such as New York or Los Angeles, they moved to a diverse group of tech centers across the country and helped fuel their growth.

While 23 percent of the nation's cooks and 20 percent of its janitors were immigrants in 2000, 27 percent of new computer-software engineers were also immigrants, according to a recent Migration Policy Institute study.

Indeed, the more technically educated the group, the more likely immigrants are to be overrepresented in it. While the foreign born make up 15 percent of the overall workforce, according to the 2000 census, they constitute approximately 17 percent of those with a bachelor's degree in science and engineering occupations, 29 percent of those with a master's degree, and 39 percent of those with a doctoral degree.

Well, even if maftring comes back, it will never employ the people it did because it just takes fewer bodies to build stuff. And the bodies it does take, all require technical training of some kind. Even the unemployed coal miners complain that they are highly skilled. and they are, but not in the right skills for today.

G5000 is right to a degree. All of us descend from people who immigrated here. There was even a movie emigrants based on a series of books. And Conrad Richter and Willa Cather books. In fact, much of early 20th century US literature. However the economies in the West transformed around the end of the last century.

But, there's a flip side to Trump's plan for only skilled immigration. That creates direct competition for US college grands, and the immigrants will work cheaper.

Yes you are right. If immigrants want to bring their clothes, music, food, religion great we welcome that. The problem we have now is they want to bring all that and their politics as well.

If they come fine, but you do things our way (when it comes to politics) or go home.

You conveniently left out the important party of that passage:

Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

What is she talking about? Storied Pomp?

I will help you.

It means:
"Hey, Old World. Quit boasting about your greatness. Your masses live in poverty with no freedom or opportunity because you do not value equality. But, send those same people here, and watch how they live. They will do well (golden door)."

It does not mean:
"Hey everybody. Send us all your stupid people and criminals. Give us all your illiterate day laborers. We'll absorb that welfare burden and fuck our own citizens over in the process. Keep up your communist/socialist/totalitarian bullshit. We'll help clean up your mess."

Immigration is completely unnecessary. It is not a lifeblood to anything. If we shut off ALL immigration and all work visas, it would actually improve our economy. More demand for a smaller supply of workers increases wages, which is the only way to "fairly" transfer wealth.

The hypocrisy of bigots who are themselves the descendants of immigrants from shitholes was pointed out over a century ago:

5o8o07.jpg

No, we’re the descendants of colonists who built this country from scratch and more European immigrants that loved the opportunity to come and work without any welfare help. They all became Americans and lived like civilized people. Now we’re supposed to throw all that away and let third world trash invade our country, bankrupt us with welfare, knowing full well they have no intention of contributing to our society?
