You knew this was coming.

A number of news outlets claim the near collapse of the Oroville dam’s emergency spillway in California is a glimpse of what man-made global warming could bring.

“Oroville Is a Warning for California Dams, as Climate Change Adds Stress,” the New York Times reported. “Broken California Dam Is a Sign of Emergencies to Come,” reads an article published in Scientific American, adding that “[c]limate change is leading to more extreme rainfalls that can overwhelm infrastructure.”

Nearly 200,000 Californians were evacuated from their homes Sunday after part of the Oroville dam’s main spillway collapsed, in turn causing the dam’s emergency spillway to reach the limit of what it can handle.
edwarming would bring more extreme rains that could damage infrastructure.

“Drought, climate change, and aging infrastructure combined to create a looming catastrophe that forced 188,000 Californians to evacuate,” reads an Atlantic subheadline.

Roger Bales, an engineering professor with the University of California, Merced, said global warming was to blame for California’s unusually wet winter.

“It doesn’t take much warming to change snowstorms into rainstorms,” Bales told The Guardian. “With a warmer climate, we get these winter storms, which dump rain rather than snow.”

They want to avoid taking responsibility for ignoring maintenance on the spillway, and the far larger issue of not expanding the # of dams to meet the increased water demands of an increased population. All this excess water is being lost.

Just deflective spin to hide their failure to perform REQUIRED maintenance on the dam. Guess they spent that money on illegal alien welfare.

That, and there is a recommendation from 2005 or so saying they should pave the emergency spillway as well.

they don't understand basic concrete construction and the limitations when used in this capacity. funny shit the no nothings that are the MSM. Maybe they should read that 2005 report.

Governor Moonbeam had other priorities...

"Jerry Brown’s High-Speed Rail Costs Under Scrutiny
...the estimated $64 billion dollar price tag for Gov. Jerry Brown’s legacy-defining high-speed rail system...
...poll found that 53% of likely California voters would prefer to reallocate the billions of so far unspent bond money from Gov. Brown’s high-speed rail to funding the construction of new surface and groundwater storage units. Only 31% of likely voters said they would not."

Ya' think Democrats ignoring the intelligence of the public explains the last election?

Moonbeams train to nowhere was started on flat ground, the easiest part of the route.
It is now 300% over budget and 5 years behind schedule.

Just wait until they get to the mountains.

Some day 40 years from now it may get finished, so people can take a train to from LA to SF in 6 hours instead of flying there in one

lol.....the stoopid dam has been left in disgraceful disrepair for many years now........this is a rigged disaster. duh.....:spinner:.....and no surprise it is happening in Ca.
Freeways have been especially ignored by Democrats. Yesterday:

On what do you base this contention that democrats have ignored infrastructure needs?

On what do you base this contention that democrats have ignored infrastructure needs?

duh

When bridges and roadways fAiL, the msm immediately links it to climate change......heavy picture emphasis. Im my field, they call it conditioning. DUMS cheer when they see photos like the one above. That didn't happen overnight. Engineers aren't stoopid.......but the bureacrats give them their marching orders on what to fix and what not to.

But its not only the DUMS...establishment GOP just as much to blame. Phonies all........another excuse to hike taxes.( yep....those $$ will go to infrastructure )

Remember Obama's shovel ready roads program? 2/3rds of that stimulus went to pay off DEM fundraising efforts prior to the 2008 election. The Scouting Report Web Chat: Assessing the Obama Administration | Brookings Institution

duh

Make no mistake....the fix is in.

The real link to the Oroville Dam pending disaster is years and years of destructive Democrat/Prog control of the state. The Legislature and their Public Employee hench thugs have plundered tax receipts meant for maintenance and improvement projects. It's shameful. We have a ton of unfunded pension liabilities and crumbling and inadequate infrastructure.
