Thought I'd test out the new Picvault option that Jim set up!

On our way to Lake Louise. That's Matanuska glacier beside the highway.

At the turnoff to Lake Louise.. this isn't too far from the Canadian border, maybe 150 miles if I remember right.

Had to go for a ride, even though it was pretty cold.. about 30 below zero.

After the initial ride, some beer & steaks! Got to get ready for a full day of riding the next day.

That's my buddy Bill on the left, me on the right.

lol, Mr. P, no girls along on this ride, it was the Boy's weekend out!

Riding from Lake Louise into Lake Susitna, which empties into Lake Tyone. Cool sign, eh? lol This is about 15 miles back, roughly.

Back in 1983, my family and I lived in this old lodge for the winter before moving to Talkeetna and building our own log home. It's in very bad disrepair now, and we didn't really enjoy living in this area... too cold and too much damn tundra, and the trees are all scraggly.

This is from the inside, looking up at the ceiling. You can see the nails protruding, and at minus 60 the nails were all dripping from condensation, so this was our solution... didn't work very well, but it helped for a stopgap measure.

Pic from the outside, my buddy Karl, probably searching for his Lost Shaker Of Salt.. :D

That lodge is in very bad condition now, it's a shame.

Most PERFECT! But you didn't use that ketchup down on the counter on that steak, did you? Mr. P would be pissed at ya..

Awww... Karl broke down about 25 miles back from the trucks & camper! Notice the deeee-LUXE tow rope I have attached to his sled! LOL

Man, nothing sucks more than getting towed back, eating snow the whole way. My sled really kicks up a nice rooster tail.

A couple of days later, this is what happens when you race around at sub zero temperatures without a Gator under your helmet. Frostbite sucks.

Well then, I'd cook your Dad a nice steak, if he's still with us...But you get a hamburger for your ketchup!

Nice pics BTW.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, Dad died 2 days before the towers came crashing down. His favorite was moose steak with a baked potato & steamed veggies. That's still my favorite. With some ketchup, of course! :)
