Small governmetn was fine when the constitution was framed when a chicken or a bushel of corn paid doctor bills and and horses were transportation and most everyone had farm, and the population in 1787 was a fraction of the size of calif. Large population called for large government. What do we have taxes to pay for now that we did not have in 1787?
