I had been hearing a little bit lately about Barack Obama being a big advocate for reparations to blacks for slavery. I looked it up a little bit, and there seems to be agreement that he is a "pusher" of reparations for blacks whose ancestors were slaves. The link I'm posting suggests that the campaign (for reparations) and supports are pushing for 777 trillion in reparations.

Obama and the Drive for Slavery Reparations

My opinion: Let's make millions of people (who have never owned slaves) pay trillions of dollars to millions of other people who have never been slaves....:cuckoo:

Exactly, they'll never get it from me....

lol @ 777 trillion.

There are nowhere near that many dollars in existence. They might as well have asked for a million-billion-gazillion dollars.

it will be called taxes.....

Yeah I know....lucky for me, I know a little math. I garauntee you if it ever becomes and issue and they actually pass something that requires it, the gov. will have a few hundred million pissed off Americans on their hands.

That's quite a bit of dough...Our my ancestors will be paying for a very very long time. Oh wait, no they won't....

Its a horrible idea, and it will never happen regardless of whom is the President.

Wouldn't count on that. The Dems love the idea and with Obama as President and this supposed super congress control by Dems, they can do a LOT of horrible things to this country.

If it happens people are not going to be happy in 4 years after our Country becomes a socialistic democracy.

More silliness from the wingnut choir. I loved that site's name, talk about stupidity. Reparations is another non issue for the simpleminded to dwell on as empty heads need simple ideas to fill the chasm. You fools continue your nonsense as the debt grows and the infrastructure falls apart.

Barack Obama : : Change We Can Believe In | Meet Barack Obama

"For we have a choice in this country. We can accept a politics that breeds division, and conflict, and cynicism. We can tackle race only as spectacle – as we did in the OJ trial – or in the wake of tragedy, as we did in the aftermath of Katrina - or as fodder for the nightly news. We can play Reverend Wright’s sermons on every channel, every day and talk about them from now until the election, and make the only question in this campaign whether or not the American people think that I somehow believe or sympathize with his most offensive words. We can pounce on some gaffe by a Hillary supporter as evidence that she’s playing the race card, or we can speculate on whether white men will all flock to John McCain in the general election regardless of his policies.

We can do that.

But if we do, I can tell you that in the next election, we’ll be talking about some other distraction. And then another one. And then another one. And nothing will change." Barack Obama

Yet another deflection from the wingnut choir's lead singer. There is a REAL lobby pushing for slavery reparations that as no less dangerous than any other lobby you choose to rail against and if Obama supports that lobby, then it is REAL issue that concerns voters.

But as usual, just try to whitewash it away with some bullshit deflection, huh?

Attempting to hold people who never owned slaves financially accountable to people who never were slaves is absurd. If Obama's willing to sign off on such garabage, yet ANOTHER reason not to vote for him.

I didn't realize he said that. That's him playing the race card. He's full of shit.

Brian, I think when he ran against Keyes, Keyes was for reparations and Obama was not.

You have been hearing this rumor about Obama, have you, Brian?

I find it somewhat odd that you have been hearing that rumor, to be frank.

You want to know why?

Because it took me less than sixty seconds to learn that what you've been hearing lately is complete bullshit

Here is what Obama thinks about reparations

"The legacy of slavery is immeasurable, but the best strategies for moving forward would be vigorously enforcing our anti-discrimination laws in education and job training."

Do you agree that the social and economic position that whites have today was due largely due in part to those thing which happened in the past, for example, slavery, Jim Crow legislation which systematically excluded blacks political and economically? If blacks cannot have reparations based on what happened in the past, whites should *NOT* have the social position that they have today because that position too was based on events that happened in the past. Whats good for the goose is damn sure good for the gander also.

WHEN Obama is president I guess you can count the days and wipe your brow with a sigh of relief when we are still not paying reparations.

Now the above is a perfect example of intellectual dishonesty.

Pull a partial quote out of context to create a lie.

You DO realize, do you not, that the next thing Obama said after the sentence was to CHIDE the media for attacking Hillary as a racist playing the race card, don't you?

His point was that the media is screwed up, not that he thought his campaign should use the race issue against Hill.

What a thoroughly misleading quote that was, Midcan5.

Were you aware of the context where that single sentence was parced from, and did you realize taking it out of context so thoroughly dishonest?
