First, make all online sales for guns, gun accessories/add ons, and ammo ILLEGAL! Most of these rampage shootings get their ammo online anonymously.

Second, HEAVILY REGULATE ALL AMMO! Make them sign a shit ton of documents and whatnot so the authorities know whats up. You should buy this stuff IN PERSON and in limited quantities!

Third, GIVE HARSH PENALTIES TO THOSE WHO INTENTIONALLY TRY TO DODGE THE REGULATIONS AND GET GUNS/AMMO ILLEGALLY!

Guns are like cars. They need ammo to shoot, just like how cars need gas to drive and go.
If you target all the ammo, then you solve the problem without bringing up conflicts on the 2nd amendment because they will have nothing to bitch at you about.

So, no consequence for using a gun in the commission of a crime, just more worthless legislation. Time to inject, fry, or hang those using a gun in the commission of a crime. When you fail to impose the ultimate sentence and hold people accountable you serve as an enabler of continued violence. Guns, legal or illegally secured are not the issue, it is those that feel they can commit a crime of violence without consequence.

You must be a youngster. The anti-gun nuts were at it long before there were personal computers. Even if there were an infallable way to know who bought all ammo used in all crimes it wouldn't prove who pulled a trigger and maybe commited a crime. Not all firearms use fixed ammo and it's not that hard to make up in the basement in any case.
What you suggest would be a deliberate attempt to infringe (you even state that that is your purpose) on an American Constitutional rights. Not nice. Back to the drawing board
.

You can't get a gun online unless it's shipped to someone having a FFL license.

You can buy ammo at Walmart.

What should be done is making severe punishments for those people committing crimes with guns.

Honest citizens shouldn't be punished.

Guns are NOT like cars. Arms are specifically mentioned in The Constitution and as such warrant FAR LESS regulation than cars.

The Constitution was intentionally written in such a way as to make clear the intent is that GOVERNMENT SHOULD LEAVE THESE ITEMS THE FUCK ALONE.
Then entire document is a regulation on the federal government intended to protect individual freedom and liberty. And the second amendment is by far the shortest and most concise amendment of them all.

Simply translated: Forget about the peoples' guns but KNOW that they have them.

The problem is, most gun owners want the ability to stockpile guns and ammunition for eventual showdowns with the government, WITHOUT the government knowing about it.

Why would you have a problem with that?

Again, there is no evidence that the above proposals would have the desired effect with regard to gun violence, while likely being offensive to the Constitution.

Survey please?

I like guns and ammo because guns are fun to shoot.

You have the right to free speech as guaranteed by the Constitution.

However, the government should monitor your phone conversations and internet activity, and you should have to fill out applications before you have any in-person conversations.

But, hey, your free-speech rights aren't being infringed, are they?

The problem isn't firearms, those who kill with guns can, and will, find alternate methods. One real problem is underfunded law enforcement specialists in the area of these types of mass killers. Money spent toward identification, and incarceration, of those who ARE risks in society will save more lives than any 'panic legislation.'

Florida is too busy tossing money at corporations building substandard, cost overrun, minimally staffed "private prisons" to be interested on "prevention", and the CPC states so, outright.

What happened to the revolutionary spirit of the left?

In the Sixties, you'd never find a leftist supporting the government.

Now, you want the government to make all your decisions for you.

They've figured out that the best way to "bring down the man" is to be the man.
Alinsky, Cloward-Piven, Marx etc...

Nitroz, someone who has cracked, like the jewish guy James Holmes or that other Jewish guy Jared Loughner, isn't going to worry about ammo sales being monitored. They've chosen a one-way trip, in the first place.

Second, if you actually put teeth in your ammo regulation, you'd create a black market for ammo which would increase gun crimes, as black markets do. Harsh penalties wouldn't make much difference.

There is no way of stopping someone from causing mass destruction, if that is what they really want. Someone could always load up a truck with gasoline or fertilizer and take out a crowd. Any small group that isn't retarded is smart enough to get deadly shivs onto an airplane and hijack it.

My view is that guns are not the cause of the problem, and trying to further control guns will not cure the real problem. Guns were readily available before 1950, but I do not remember hearing about comparable mass shootings from the decades before the middle of the 20th century. I think the primary driver of the violence today is the saturation of the media with violence (and with violent pornography too). Kids growing up today are bombarded daily with violent movies, TV, video games, Internet, etc, and the result is that some of those kids have fantasies about violence that they then actually act out.

My proposed solution is to redefine the First Amendment to mean what it actually says: "Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech . . ." People should have the freedom to talk or write about their viewpoints on any issue, even if their viewpoints are in support of an illegal activity. However, movies, TV, video games, web pages, newspapers, books, etc. should not have the ability to act out or otherwise provide details about activities that are illegal if actually done. I will defend a person's right to say that robbing a bank should not be illegal, but I condemn stories about bank robberies that provide details which impressionable minds can feed their fantasies with. There is more about this concept in:
c34 - Pornography And The First Amendment

And what makes you think that you are competent to decide what others can look at?

What I said makes no indication that I want the government to make all my decision for me. I absolutely do not want the government to make all of my decisions for me. I do understand however the role of government in protecting the civilian base from people seeking to acquire firearms. I believe firmly in the role of regulation with many things.

Our food is regulated, I see no problem with firearms purchases and ownership being regulated.

" I do understand however the role of government in protecting the civilian base from people seeking to acquire firearms."

Really? What role is that?
