I've been a fan of Mike Judge since Beavis & Butthead, but I like his movies a lot more (Office Space and Idiocracy). Although he made his name with fart and dick jokes, he's actually a very smart guy with a degree in physics from UC San Diego and some experience working in Silicon Valley.
Silicon Valley (the show) isn't as laugh out loud funny as Office Space and Idiocracy, but it's a very smart show that really shows the ruthless and backstabbing culture of Silicon Valley in a comedic/satirical light.
Season 1 was a bit slow, IMO. I'd give it a 7.5/10 as a comedy, but it's very well written and executed as just a show. I just finished episode 5 of season 2, and I think season 2 is a lot stronger and will likely get a better rating from me once I finish it.
