The number of people being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement has reached an all-time high of 50,000 as migrants from Central America and Mexico continue to stream towards the United States, deepening the humanitarian crisis.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen testified to a Democrat-controlled House this week that the federal government and, specifically, her border agencies, are fast running out of resources to deal with the rising numbers of migrants as well as space to detain them. But while some Republicans offered encouraging or sympathetic words, Democrats seemed unfazed.

In reporting the latest figures provided by the government, The Daily Beast reported:

It’s an increase of approximately 2,000 people in the month-plus since Jan. 30, when ICE, it previously told The Daily Beast, was detaining 48,088 people. And it’s just another 2,000 people shy of the 52,000-person daily detentions ICE is asking Congress to fund in its next budget.

Asked what accounts for the increase, ICE spokeswoman Danielle Bennett said in a statement: “ICE makes custody determinations on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with U.S. law and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) policy, considering the merits and factors of each case while adhering to current agency priorities, guidelines and legal mandates. Ensuring there are sufficient beds available to meet the current demand for detention space is crucial to the success of ICE’s overall mission.”

While that is true, what it's not telling us is the 50,000 number is a running figure, not a fixed total, meaning for example we have caught 84,000 illegals in the past two months and we continue to catch over 1,000 more every day, But in accordance with our "catch and release" law we can only hold a captured illegal for 20 days, after which we must release them. And that's what we've been doing -- releasing all but 50,000 newly captured who are being held for less than 20 days. That means over 30,000 in the past two months have been transported in DHS luxury buses to public bus stations and sanctuary "churches" in such major Southwestern cities as El Paso, Phoenix, San Diego, and others, where they are just dropped off. Where they go from there is anybody's guess.

So when we hear that ICE is "catching" illegal aliens, it's true. But it's also true that those illegals can only be held for 20 days, during which they are "detained" (washed, rested and fed). Then DHS (the Department of Homeland Security) quietly releases them into our population. This has been going on for months and months and months. Thousands and thousands and thousands of them.

So it's not a sarcastic comment to say Border Patrol is basically helping illegals who breach our border to rest up for a few days, after which they will be dropped off at safe places in some major cities. It's like a game show prize after their "caravan" ordeal. We are in fact paying the U.S. Border Patrol to assist illegal aliens to travel from the border to the center of a major American city. This is why border-jumpers and desert rats run up to "la Migra" (Border Patrol agents) rather than run away from them. They know that in 20 days their journey will have ended.

So when we hear that ICE is "catching" illegal aliens, it's true. But it's also true that those illegals can only be held for 20 days, during which they are "detained" (washed, rested and fed). Then DHS (the Department of Homeland Security) quietly releases them into our population. This has been going on for months and months and months. Thousands and thousands and thousands of them.

So it's not a sarcastic comment to say Border Patrol is basically helping illegals who breach our border to rest up for a few days, after which they will be dropped off at safe places in some major cities. It's like a game show prize after their "caravan" ordeal. We are in fact paying the U.S. Border Patrol to assist illegal aliens to travel from the border to the center of a major American city. This is why border-jumpers and desert rats run up to "la Migra" (Border Patrol agents) rather than run away from them. They know that in 20 days their journey will have ended.

Anyone who might care to watch this drop-off process taking place can see it in dozens of YouTube videos. Just call up "Illegal Alien drop-offs."

A 14 year old girl was first ordered by these MS-13 members, who were only still on our civilian streets because the Ice Detention Order was deliberately evaded by State Authorities, to strip naked and then they beat her to death with a baseball bat while slashing her with a machete. There is nothing "palatable" about this and why would you even introduce that word into the discussion?

Not these two, they had an ICE detainer because they are here illegally. Had the State Officials not evaded Federal officials this young girl wouldn't have been beaten and slashed to death.

There is nothing "mystical" about permitted entry into this nation. It's black letter law and policy.

I explained why the word palatable was used. It is because when it is just some hood rats beating a 14 year old to death, you ignore the news story. There is your answer. You are not upset that rapes, robberies, murders, etc. happen in your neighborhood. In the county I live in a woman was convicted of starving her young daughter, beating her to death, and then burning her in a garbage can in the back yard.

That was palatable to you because it was national news, but since it did not involve your favorite political issue, your conscious mind didn't even pay attention. It wasn't important.

Yes, there is a mystical process about entering the United States. For what you believe is not true. Furthermore, there is this implied argument that, once examined, means that the only way into the United States is via a process that will (eventually) end in citizenship. Carrying the argument to its final conclusion, once all these foreigners (roughly a million per year) do become citizens, they don't like you; they don't agree with your political opinions; that hate, loathe and despise you..... ultimately meaning that at some point they outnumber you at the polls.
