nothing like removing responsibility from the palestinians...
Fareed Zakaria's book "THE FUTURE OF FREEDOM: Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad." Clearly sets forth good examples of why democracy is not always the best FIRST step. Sometimes authoritarian control needs to be put in place while steps toward democracy are taken and the nation is prepared for it. Jumping into democracy from the get go can be very, very dangerous. Especially, IMHO, the ME.
great book and very potent argument i happen to agree with... look at chile, south korea, taiwan, singapore (not quite democratic but getting there), etc etc
you're especially right about the ME
sadly, barghouti is the best potential leader the palestinians could ever have, preferably as a strongman... a man of physical courage, shrewd intellect and instinct and a capacity for reason and compromise
the israelis and americans will not find peace with abbas, they could have found peace with barghouti much more likely than abbas or any other living palestinian
No body cares, barguti is a murderer with conclusive proof, you don't kill ppl and get away with it just like that.
