Shutting Down The US Government

So what is the big deal if the representatives disagree to spending cuts? Dems are thinking the disagreement will lead to shutting down government when nothing gets funded. Why not keep sending through a combination of spending packages until they get enough votes to carry.:eusa_whistle:

Let it shut down.

Ever let a kid having tantrum scream till it shut up?

Gotta send them to their room first. ;)

Indeed. If you are good at your craft? WHY have some thug speak for you? Your actions speak rather loudly as you make yourself indispensible to the cause of those that hired you.

Unions are nothing more than legalized theft

Or rather...an entity whose time has come and gone. Their message was received early in the movement and there are laws now that protect workers.

All we see now is residual greed. ;)

Ahh, selective greed goings on here.
The working class has suffered with flat wages for decades as noted by U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics @ this link: http://www.workinglife.org/wiki/Wages+and+Benefits:+Real+Wages+(1964-2004)
Yet during that time period businesses have seen great growth and more wealth has been concentrated within the upper percentile as noted in this piece:
Income Inequality in the United States, 1913-1998 (
Quarterly Journal of Economics)
Income Inequality in the United States, 1913
Facts are facts. No one can disprove that wages have been flat and they can't disprove the result of flat wages in a profitable environment is a growing gap in wealth and the continuation of wage inequality.
Yet to some, the working class are the greedy ones and are leaches of society, yet they make up a majority of society. Many of those who defend wage inequality are actually themselves victims of wage inequality, they are so blinded by their ideology, they don't see the reality of the wage inequality environment.
Why is it that unions are called thief's, when in fact it's the upper wealth percentile who are holding down wage growth in a profitable environment?

If the GOP doesn't get it's way, they should take their ball and go home. I like that adult thinking.

Just like the Democrats did in Wisconsin....Is that what you mean

No, this is different. In Wisconsin the democrats did act childish. In this instance the GOP is saying, in essence, "We will not waste any more of the taxpayers money, need to lower taxes to get the economy moving as Obama's spending put us on the edge of bankruptcy, and if the democrats want to sell allowing government to shut down if they cannot raise taxes as an issue to the American people in 2012, be our guest." That's what's happening here and the GOP should NOT blink or they'll be no distinction between them, which is what the democrats want after November. Don;t blink. If shutting down is what not blinking means, shut it down, full down, all the way, and let the democrats take the heat, because Americans want lower taxes, not higher taxes. The GOP should stand 100% firm. This is a winner. 100%
Sorry, but if just doesn't work that way. The Senate will propose that the House pass an emergency allocation to allow the government to operate for a month or so until a deal is struck. If the House refuses, which they won't, then they will shoulder the responsibility of a government shutdown.

For those that keep saying shut it down, they do not realize the political consequences.

A declarative statement, foll owed about another which is assumed, followed by another which is a presumption, followed by a warning. You should be a fiction novelist. You're damn good at it.

Facts show exactly what I posted to be true.. So, what do YOU call holding wages down (a fact) while worker productivity is high, (a fact), while companies show high profits (a fact).
Is there not a record Wealth Gap?
All people like you got is your "CLASS WARFARE" cop-out. Yes there is class warfare,,, on the Middle Class. Prove me wrong.

Gee...All that started in the magical year of 1913?....Coincidence? :eusa_think:

shut down the government. cut the monster's ugly head right off !
maybe this question comes up so often because the government is too big. government is a big part of america's woes.
if we reduced the size of the government, including the military some, we would start to see great things happen.

Our U.S. Government is now 'Too Big to Fail.' But who bails them out? We are in a lot of trouble. It's time for our Politicians to start behaving like Adults. Tough decisions have to be made. The Democrats especially, need to stop putting their Party before their Country. It's time for Adults to make tough Adult decisions.

Funny bit of news I just came across today. It seems that Belgium has been operating for months without a government, and no one noticed.

If a government falls and practically nobody hears it, does it make a sound?

Unable — or unwilling — to work together, bickering politicians have left unassuming Belgium without a fully functioning government for eight months, the longest for any nation in Europe since World War II.

Through most of that time, few Belgians, let alone the outside world, even seemed to notice. Trains continue to run, waffles are still being grilled on street corners, and people window-shop along centuries-old arcades. Tourists still sample mussels, go for overpriced canal rides in Bruges and snap up Tintin souvenirs, blissfully unaware of a political crisis.

Belgium government: Belgium has lacked a government for months - latimes.com

I wonder if anyone besides a few tourist would notice if we shut down our government for 8 months.
