Should the US split Up?

It's getting pretty obvious, according to the electoral map over the years that the American Union just isn't what it used to be, it's rapidly failing as a cohesive, working nation.

Is it really such a crazy idea that the result could be a two or more nation split?

If we keep going in this direction we may have a 2nd civil war betweend the Taxed and the Takers.

Who knows maybe it will be a war of votes instead of a war of guns but something big is coming if we keep doing what we have been for the last 20 years or so.

Best hope not, because if the rich have to fight the poor, they'll have to do something for themselves, quite possibly for the first time in their life.

Hard to hire your own army when the people you'd pay want to kill you.

Should the US split Up?

Of course not.

If for no other reason than it simply is not part of the American nature to quit, give up, and refuse to work together to solve common problems.

More Americans enjoy greater freedom today than at any time in our Nation’s history; true, there is more work to be done to ensure all Americans realize their full civil liberties, but our Constitutional tradition of affording equal protection of the law to all citizens will eventually prevail.

I'm down with selling the south to mexico or china. It would pay off the debt and then some, plus getting most all of the GOP trash the hell out of the country so freedom and liberty can prevail

Odd talk from a guy who consistently espouses the virtues of an ever, all consuming Federal government that tells us what to do do from what to eat to what kind of light bulbs we can have.

If people would follow the original intent of federalism, it wouldnt be nessasary. People in Mississipi could enact laws as they see fit (within the guidlines of the US and Mississippi consitution) and people elsewhere could do the same.

progressives aim for a "one size fits all" end game, where the states are merely administrative cogs of the federal machine.

The original intent of federalism is being followed today, just as envisioned by the Framers.

The people of Mississippi may enact laws they see fit provided those measures indeed comport with the Constitution and its case law, meaning Mississippi may not violate the privacy rights of its residents concerning abortion by attempting to ban the practice, and the State may not violate equal protection rights of its residents by prohibiting same-sex couples access to marriage.

If any state wishes to not have its measures challenged in Federal court and struck down, then that state should refrain from enacting laws it knows full well to be un-Constitutional.

Show me where the words abortion and same sex marriage are in the consitution, then you have a point. Until then both "rights" are constructs of 5/9 people, not consitutional rights.

This is where we have the problem.

You should go read about Zambia and Zimbabwe when all the white farmers were ousted. it's very amusing. :D

the answer is NO.

give it a few years and all the repubs kids will join us.

Why, because the will be on welfare too?

Your party is shrinking almost as fast the Republican party, in time both Dems and Reps will truly become irrelevant. The country is rejecting the Progressive movement by simply not showing up to vote.

Off hand, the rich are well used to doing a hell of a lot, and they'd be up against welfare bums who grow into their own sofas. It's pretty hard to get up and fight with a LazEBoy attached to your ass.

Or we can sell California back to Mexico, getting rid of a good chunk of Liberal trash. Plus it would make Presidential elections fair again without California's automatic 50+ EV going to a Dem president candidate.

fuck no!

No, we are a stronger nation because of our diversity.

I for one am glad to call many liberals and conservatives my brothers and sisters even if we do not always agree.

So you are a believer in the "Divided We Stand" school of thought?

The problem is Immanuel, as more takers take less givers are willing to pay for it..

The crash is inevitable...no matter the diversity of thought..

Why would we allow our children to lapse into insanity and join ranks with the likes of stupid fucks such as yourself?

That would make no sense. Quite the contrary, a lot of younger people are starting to see the utter stupidity that is Progressivism, Socialism, Marxism, Communism, etc. It just doesn't work...

Didn't the majority of the young vote go to the very people you just labeled as stupid and insane though? As to the question of the thread...no, the point of America is to have all these varying ideas and shit come together in a common goal...even if the way they feel it should be done is such a point of contention. Besides, It's not nearly that flippin' easy.

Obama got 60% of voters 18-29 to Romney's rather sad 36%.

But of course, that's part of the reason why these people are suggesting secession at all. They're unable to convince the next generation of their bullshit, and are so afraid of their conversion, that they're willing to try anything to stop it.

An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy; because there is a limit beyond which no institution and no property can bear taxation.

John Marshall, McCullough v. Maryland, 1819

All I see in this thread, and others like it is:

"Waah! We lost! Now we want to take our ball and go home!"

Pussies. You live in a Democracy. That means you don't always get your way.

Now suck it up and move on.

Yeah, it's a crazy idea. If it's becoming uncohesive, it's because some are unwilling to compromise. It's not a dirty word. It's served the nation well for over 200 years, except for one period when there was another group that refused to compromise. All that's needed is a determination to work together, to reinstill confidence and market forces will take care of the rest. What won't work is having people who whine and cry and obstruct progress, because they don't like the results of an election. We got over '00. You're going to have to get over this one.
