A simple question. There will be some tough negotiations coming up about the expiration of existing tax laws, but the question, should the reduced tax rates be made permanent or at least extended for the middle class and 98% of americans right away, so they do not become political fodder for those that need it the most?

No, we're fricking 16 trillion dollars in debt. If it's as serious as everyone says it is then everyone needs to pay their fair share.

Interesting. So you're against the Willard/hard right plan that would raise taxes on the poor and middle class to pay for more tax cuts to the rich? :eusa_think:

If those people are honestly serious enough to crash the government in the name of deficit reduction then nothing should be off the table, nothing. If they are just playing a game where the real goal is the destruction of the welfare state and gigantic tax breaks for the "job creators" and screw the deficit then yes, things that help regular working people should be protected from such a dastardly attack by the plutocracy.

    So...

Lowering taxes on the rich will "raise revenue" in the end

    and...

Raising taxes on the middle and lower class will raise revenue to apply to the debt.

    It cant go both ways.

All the dems need to do is pass the bill house passed in July to extend the rates for everyone, that will kick the can down the road to aviod the fiscal cliff and allow time for proper negoations. But I don't think Maobama will buy that, he would rather have some one to blame rather than go for a real fix.
