No, not at all. MANY people think that Teapers are racist...it just isn't me. Don't you think that sort of destroys the movement...which is admirable (their published ideals)? I believe Teapers destroy the GOP and I look forward to the day they start their armed revolution...and are eliminated.
You can't even use their real name, it is almost like you are a hater. Careful it is a slippery slope to being a racist.
No, I am just lazy. It is easier to type teaper than Tea Partier and it makes sense.

Yes, lazy, I see. So you create a derogatory term and apply it to a group of people. Just like the n-word huh?
Indeed, the n-word is a made up word too. Why so offensive to you? Hate blinds, that is why it is wrong for racists and wrong for you.
No one says it needs to be calm. It doesn't even need to be tempered...just less of the personal attacks and racism.Politics is NEVER going to be for calm debate or discussion. Ever. Never ever. So to expect the staff to be mommies is crazy and unfair to THEM.
Hell, y'all can't even discuss this topic without the same o same o.

How is a made up word derogatory? Again Tea Partier - Teaper
Would it make you happy if I spelled it like this:
TeaPer?
What nonsense. Then again, I remember a Teaper lecturing me about the N word...saying it is just a word - get over it.

In the end, I would say no personal insults outside of the flame zone! Allowing the flaming everywhere just takes it from thread to thread with no end.
No flaming in a political forum? lol. Good luck with that. Politics, religion, abortion...the 3 MAIN volatile subjects with very strong opinions.
If folks could address the post and not the poster...that would be good but it rarely EVER happens.

It's another one of those stupid, partisan slang words used by weak debaters to insult and anger those of opposing political affiliations. Call a Tea Partier a Tea Partier, and a Liberal a Liberal, and on. I wouldn't advise the BS'ing of whining about names and personal insults, while using political insults and derogatory slang. It's hypocritical, and hurts your cause.

Why should everyone talk nice just because you can't take an insult or two? Most of the insults tossed around this board aren't meant to be taken seriously. I can insult people in one post and praise them in the very next one. Adults should understand that. The problem isn't the insults, it is the idea that the Politics section is a catch all for anything people want to post. Although everything can be related to politics, not everything deserves to be.
Go with the pink. Decency will bring in more members than those who get expelled. What makes you think people won't go pink in a cdz politics forum.
If the pink option is chosen, probably more than half the USMB membership will get gone. If I am wrong, please correct me. Forums need traffic, so nuking more than 30% of your membership quickly goes against that. Personally I would subtly and gradually change the forum, making the atmosphere increasingly inhospitable for trolls, partisan hacks, and the like. Take out some of the more vocal trolls and hacks first, increasing the rate ever so slightly over time, and with every nudge people will adapt to the change.
Maybe.
Sometimes it takes healing a problem slowly, than taking a drastic action early on. People who go to the CDZ and break the rulesknowingly or notare undoubtedly dealt with by staff.
You have no faith in your fellow members. Rule with an iron fist...root out those who won't follow the rules and everything will come down. Most people that get into the flame wars around here are only responding in kind. Get rid of the idiots and quality members will come. Or, keep it the same and we will get more new members like warwulf. Again, it comes down to what kind of forum the admins want.
But, but DUDE! You would be one of the first!
Nah...I can follow the rules...if you recall, when I first came on board...I was nice. The wild west nature of USMB and the rampant racism is why I changed.
That's true for a lot of us. I agree that if the board were cleaned, we'd get a higher class of clientele.
Please, admin, mods, please end the garbage.

Go with the pink...adding a forum will fix nothing. If pinkies don't learn...then they will forever be pink and the forum is improved.
Forums rely on traffic.
I've seen a forum try to do that on a gaming/TCG forum back in 2005, but it failed. The perpetual troublemakers and louts came back under various accounts, and a lot of those classless people reacted angrily to their trolling getting them banned.
The trolling is a problem. I can't have a quality discussion without two or more partisans/trolls wrecking the thread. A secondary forum like the one WestWall mentioned would be a step in the right direction, and I would frequent that part quite a bit.
I agree; hyper-partisan trolls do ruin good threads. I can't stand it when they waltz right into a pyrfyctly good, reasonable discussion and begin spewing their hatred everywhere. It's an abomination to the high level of intellectual discourse some of us are capable of.
That said, what would be posted in the Politics CDZ that can't be posted in the CDZ we have already?

If you want a board where everyone agrees with your bullshit I have plenty of suggestions for you. This place works because people can express themselves without worrying about the boot of tyranny coming down on their throats. Feel free to go to a pace where you can say stupid things and not get called on it if you don't like it here.
