Should the government cap actors' pay?

Funny how everyone in hollywood has the right to make as much money as they want but a guy who runs a company doesn't... at least according to jillian... :cuckoo:

Amazing that she can't see that a CEO who runs the company, helps create profit for the company so that company can it employee hundreds or thousands of people....

But that's what you get with liberals...:cuckoo:

I have no idea, but isn't BP a British company?

Ben Affleck has made some pretty awful movies. But that's not the point. Not all CEO's suck at their job either. EXACTLY!

BP is a multinational corporation. But I mentioned Carly Fiorina, too. She screwed up at HP like nobody's business.

It's not just about not sucking at their job. It's about profit creation. And yes, Affleck has made some horrendous films, but in the main, he's a big box office draw...

How many people buy a product BECAUSE of who the CEO is? It becomes an issue for me when failed CEO's get so much money in golden parachutes that companies try to cut worker benefits. How do you hand a failed CEO a check for millions and then turn around and tell your workers you're cutting their pensions/health coverage/salary increases?

I think that's the point they were making.

And if nobody created profits we would not be able to buy any products - there would be non.

People buy products because of the name of the CEO? Most people don't know the names of CEOs unless there's a major event that goes public.

Do you even know what a golden parachute is?

Yes, government should cap actor's pay, baseball player's pay, football player's pay, tennis player's pay, country singer's pay, pop singer's pay. There absolutely should be NO rich people allowed in America under any circumstances. Period. End of story. Take Oprah's money first, she's a ceo. start there.

It's in the fucking Kool Aid Kman.

Ah gotta love that celebutard hypocrisy.

actors are used BECAUSE they make money for corporations. If you starr Brad Pitt in a movie, how much does his name bring to the box office? He creates wealth for the production company much like Derrick Jeter does for his team's owners. I view it as profit sharing.

Good point.

Essentially, Ben Affleck is an expensive tool.

So, because some CEOs suck, we should punish them all? Perhaps the government should regulate everyone's pay?

you're ignoring the point and going to the extreme...

you think a failed CEO should suck millions out of a corporation in golden parachutes? or you think their pay should at least be linked to profitability?

So Affleck has never made any money on the crappy movies he has made? The point is he. and many of the Hollywood elite, are hypocrites as they make many times the money a gaffer on the set makes and still they preach about evil corps CEO's making money with a failing company. If the movie fails, they still make money...correct. While it may be a valid point, coming from just another millionaire actor in this country, most don't care to listen.

Kinda like Obama stating that all have to tighten their belts while he is not looking for money to make his house payment.

Did Movie Actors get bailed out, and handed millions of dollars? I don't think so. You play with gov., you get regulated.

He wasn't speaking specifically about the bailed out banks. And if that is what he was thinking, the interviewer obviously didn't follow up. Because???

It was on NPR - not TMZ. "Real unbiased" journalists, eh?

how much of our money has gone to movie production companies to make up for the short fall of bad and deceptive investments?

none that I know of.

The government should have a 99% tax on actor pay above $250,000, think of all the teachers and policemen we could hire.

It's only fair

I think they should be able to earn what they are able to earn, just tax it at 80% and send the proceeds to the "Intense Fund For Widow's and Orphans" A.K.A. "Intense's Personal Play, Vacation, & Retirement Fund". I promise to send post cards from around the world.

Seriously, with Athletes, Super Star's, and CEO's, it is over the top. At least some do some good with it.
When bad decisions are made, they should not be rewarded.

Same thing for Liberal businessmen who feel that they do not pay enough in taxes and use estate and trusts and other schemes to avoid paying their fair share.

When we win it all back in 2012 our Pay Czar will right this terrible wrong so children no longer need to suffer

Who needs a fed pay czar? Why doesn't Mr Affleck, Michael Moore, and Sean Penn run the Screen Actors Guild? They could "revolutionize" the industry into their own vision of socialist utopia. I'm sure they'd get tons of support from the "little people" in the union. Damn if I was a professional walk on, I'd support it. Lol

Think of the Children!!

Threads like this rock because Progressives, Democrats, liberals have to drink the worlds tallest glass of STFU juice!

Just think of all the "good" they could do for the people. They could hire Mark Lloyd to regulate the "content" and maybe even Michelle could be the "Popcorn Czar". Only fruits and veggies served. Save the children!
