Should Spanish be the USA's 'official language?'

    Actually, English is a Germanic language. That's why "chicken" does not start with the letter "p" like it does in Romance languages.

    I never fully understood English until I went to the Defense Language Institute to study Germany. Suddenly, it made a whole lot of sense to me.

    Haus - house
    Brot = bread
    vunder = wonder

    and so on.

    Many years ago, a Hawaiian Senator named Hayakawa proposed that English be declared the official language of the United States. He was told that the idea was stupid and unnecessary.

    So now, 50 years later, most Governent social services are provided in at Least two languages - English and Spanish - while the American people ask, WTF?

    We are just a couple of elected officials shy of a declaration that the U.S. is bi-lingual, English and Espanol.

    WTF?
