Should protests and dissent be considered "anti-American?"

I actually heard that on some ridiculous radio call-in show this morning. A caller stated that protesters and those who express anti-government views should be considered criminals, since they allegedly show our enemies that we are a divided nation.
Strange, I thought that it showed our enemies that we are a free nation where everyone is able to express their opinion. Unlike themselves, where dissent is punishable by death.
Then again, perhaps freedom of speech is the next target of the Bush Brownshirts.

As long as protestors recognize that the criticism they receive for what they say is free speech too. Too often protestors feel as if they have the right to speak freely WITHOUT RESPONSE. If you try to respond to the CONTENT of what they say, they invariably fall back on the pitiful " you're trying to restrict my free speech" mantra. It's pretty lame to not listen to responses when you "protest".

When the minority writes all the rules and makes it illegal to talk bad about themselves, then the majority is in trouble. The last option is revolution. With the government restricting the 2nd ammendment through anti-gun laws and the 1st ammendment through Political Correctness, its a recipe for disaster. A totalitarian regime is on the way if there ever were a Liberal with enough financial power and charisma to win the election.

If they just stuck with what they claim to be I could care less but getting the free ride they have has gotten them a bit drunk with power. And can't we just start calling the majority "white people" ?

The guy sounds like a moron Gabby, I can't see how considering people who think the WOE is bad and thereby protest criminals would promote freedom. Some people never think through the consequences if such a thing did come into law.

However, one moron on talk radio doesn't set policy for the US and so far people who protest have had no fear from the government. One guy's opinion expressed on the air doesn't make Bush suddenly NAZI, or the Police "Brownshirts". Also the analogy makes no sense. When Hitler took power the Brownshirts killed almost all of his more vocal political dissent, since you have no fear of speaking out against the government it seems that the analogy doesn't hold any water whatsoever.

Comparing people to NAZIs has become overwhelmingly popular, but is seldom historically accurate or even salient to the facts, much like this case. It has become so popular that people who use such comparisons are often ignored, I call it the "Cried Wolf" syndrome. Such comparisons do little to gain the respect of others and actually have a huge negative effect, it is unlikely any opinion expressed creating NAZI analogies will gain you any respect whatsoever and will make you seem overly alarmist and extremely unoriginal in thought.

Protest should be limited to areas where the general public will not be impeded by them, meaning no use of public streets or parks or any other thing funded by taxpayer money and which causes interruption of the daily life of a city or town. Want to have a protest? Find some fucking empty field for your worthless waste of time. And yes protesting the war is un-American, the ragheads see this divisiveness and use it against us, used to be Demos respected the politics stops at the water's edge, unfortunately they have fallen woefully short in protection of America and therefore give comfort and aide to the enemy.
