Should PORN be allowed at PUBLIC LIBRARIES?

right now sad to say it's the lying democrats. sorry! I do borrow a lot of books from the library. I donate a lot too. I just wash my hands a lot too.

Then you're probably one of the few.. Most people haven't stepped in one since they got out of school...which I'd say is evidenced by the fact that you can drive by practically any library you can find it, and you'll find it close to empty. Most people now do to Barnes & Noble, or Borders when they want to lounge around and read, or get any form of reading material, or other media.

I go to the library at least every other week. My library is awesome. Even without porn. :D

But then again, anyone who has read some Anne Rice or Laurell K. Hamilton knows that porn already exists in the library - it's just words rather than pictures. Because that's what romance novels are, right? Porn for chicks. :eusa_shhh:

"However, I've read where conservatives want to ban the Color Purple and works by Tennesse Willilams and Truman Capote. They may not be able to distinquish the difference between liturature and porn. One has to wonder."

You really should get your FACTS straight before you charactarize an entire group as doing something it seems ONLY ONE person in ONE area of the country has said anything about banning books. And it does NOT specifically say that he wants "The Color Purple" banned or the works of Williams or Capote. That kind of blatant misrepresentation of the FACTS has become a political mainstay of so many of the left side of the spectrum these days. For those asking him to post his source, since he's so obviously ignored you, this is, what I believe, he's referring to. Notice that it is only ONE person in ONE area of the country and it does NOT say that he specifically wants to ban "The Color Purple" or the works of Williams and Capote.

"An Alabama lawmaker who sought to ban gay marriages now wants to ban novels with gay characters from public libraries, including university libraries.
A bill by Rep. Gerald Allen, R-Cottondale, would prohibit the use of public funds for "the purchase of textbooks or library materials that recognize or promote homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle." Allen said he filed the bill to protect children from the "homosexual agenda."
…
Allen said that if his bill passes, novels with gay protagonists and college textbooks that suggest homosexuality is natural would have to be removed from library shelves and destroyed.
…
When asked about Tennessee Williams' southern classic "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof," Allen said the play probably couldn't be performed by university theater groups. He then gasped something about "Brick…," the "manly sport of football," and some calculatin' bitch who came between him and his best friend. Bad collegiate flashback, apparently.

Allen said no state funds should be used to pay for materials that foster homosexuality. He said that would include nonfiction books that suggest homosexuality is acceptable and fiction novels with gay characters. While that would ban books like "Heather has Two Mommies," it could also include classic and popular novels with gay characters such as "The Color Purple," "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and "Brideshead Revisted."

The bill also would ban materials that recognize or promote a lifestyle or actions prohibited by the sodomy and sexual misconduct laws of Alabama. Allen said that meant books with heterosexual couples committing those acts likely would be banned, too.
------------------------------------------------------------------
This bill is being sought out by ONE lawmaker NOT all conservatives as the poster would have you believe. As I stated, this kind of misrepresentation of the FACTS is becoming so typical of many on the left these days. NOTE: I did NOT say ALL on the left, so please do NOT try to put that misrepresentation of my words out there.
