Should Governments rescind the Noble Lie of religions?

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDNHM84lBA0]The Noble Lie - YouTube[/ame]

These lies were and are given to insure social harmony in an uneducated and gullible population. Our Governments lie and allow liars to lie to us of the supernatural, fantasy and magic.

Governments learned a long ago that religions were a good tool to use for social manipulation and control. Governments allowed and encouraged belief in fantasy, miracles and magic, the opium of the masses, and have lived with the drugged up population and religions.

Governments, with this noble lie, have maintained the current idiocy of immoral teachings within religions and have caused much unjust discrimination and denigration of innocent populations of Gays, women and many others, for just doing what we now see as moral.

Do you think we have matured enough as a people that we can now rescind the laws that protect religions and gives them a tax haven and legitimacy?

Are we intelligent enough to not need these lies anymore?

Can the population take our real reality or is the Government just going to let the flim-flam con game of religions to continue to damage the mental capabilities of the citizens in our country?

Flim-flam and con artists are subject to the law of the land. --- except for religions.

Can the population of take the truth?

Russia tried it and failed. The Russian Orthodox Church today is stronger than it was pre-communism. China did it. But Christianity is the fastest growing religion in China.

Personally I would dearly love to see obama declare religion illegal and an official statement that religion is a lie.

How do you propose to accomplish that when they burn down the desert because they have been whipped into a frenzy by a mere video most have never saw?

Imagine the reaction when being told they have to keep their prophet inside the mosque. lol

or you could admit the truth. That there is a God. That He intervenes in the affairs of man and reveals Himself to those He chooses. That the Son of God came in hte Merdian of Time a gave Himself as a sacrifice for sin. That by doing so He overcame both Physical and Spiritual death. That even now He invites everyone to be Born Again of the Spirit and to learn things we never considered.

Or if you choose not to admit the truth, you can atleast allow people to make up their own minds instead of trying to use the force of government to comply with your view point on religion.

I would just be happy if they paid their fair share of taxes.

They should be declared what they are though, but most politicians do not have the balls or the support of those they would protect. Truth is not an option to them.

Strange that religions, scams to enrich themselves at the cost of the gullible and dumbest could not continue their abuse without help from their own government.

That is over there.
We have enough abuse here to worry about.

It is my view that all literalists and fundamentals hurt all of us who are moral religionists as well as those who do not believe. They all hurt their parent religions and everyone else who has a belief or not. They make us all into laughing stocks and should rethink their position. There is a Godhead but not the God of talking animals, genocidal floods and retribution. Beliefs in fantasy, miracles and magic are evil.

The force of a government who created the problem in the first place with their Noble lie.

As to your absentee God, we could argue his reality all day and get nowhere.

You have run from moral arguments before.
Shall I show you why you ran?

If you are up for it, grab one of the immoralities attributed to Jesus and we can have at it.

First of all, religion preceded government. Historically , they've been symbiotic for the most part.

However, the U.S. Constitution made a major break with that by declaring that:

"We the People...do ordain..."

However, dumb ass religious zealots refuse to take that staement for it's true meaning.

There wouldn't really be a point in government condemning religion. People would develope new beliefs that were just as zany...and probably more dangerous.

The best that we can hope for is a real "Wall of separation between church and state", which is what the founding fathers intended.

BTW - There was freedom of religion in the Soviet Union. My wife and her family (along with many people they knew) did practice religion freely. The only restriction on religion was that you could not be a member of the Communist party if your were religious - therefore religious people could not hold public office.

The American people were fed a bunch of lies regarding religion in the Soviet Union. (but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone).

I do not advocate the government condemning religions.

I do advocate that we stop giving respect to what does not deserve it and make them pay their own way instead of dipping into my pocket.

If Christianity was in any way a moral theology I might not think this way but to give such an immoral religion any respect is insane.

It begins with a God who plans his own son's needless murder and genocide of the whole world.

Yet Christians see a good God in the bible. Insanity is what the Noble Lie is giving us.

This can only come from a person who has no comprehension of what they speak.

I really feel sorry for you.

You are obviously among the dumbest and the gullible, do you feel abused?

BTW, the simple fact that you believe something, does not make that something the truth.

What we have here is a failure to comprehend that your opinion is just that, your opinion.

The American people were fed a bunch of lies regarding religion in the Soviet Union. (but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone).

Defending a tolerance for religious people being discriminated against isn't much of a compelling argument for your position. The U.S. Constitution is quite clear by virtue of the First Amendment:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

What that means is that the government can't MAKE you practice the religion of its choice and that it can't stop you from practicing as you please just so long as you're not fucking with anyone else's civil liberties. It doesn't mean that anybody gives up the right to the "free exercise thereof".

Now, what you're saying is that one man giving his property (money) to another as a matter of his religious practice is a somehow a transaction that would require government to take a "cut". But that would interfere with his civil rights in the matter of his "free exercise thereof". The only way that wouldn't be so is if the people he gives his property to use that money for political purposes rather than religious ones. So... if a church is political, treat it like any other political organization, which in most cases would ALSO result in a non-tax status. But if it makes you feel like you're fixing something by saying who is non-tax by virtue of religion and who is non-tax by virtue of politics, knock yourself out.
