ALEC Exposed: The Koch Connection

http://alecwatch.org/

Hundreds of ALEC’s model bills and resolutions bear traces of Koch DNA: raw ideas that were once at the fringes but that have been carved into “mainstream” policy through the wealth and will of Charles and David Koch. Of all the Kochs’ investments in right-wing organizations, ALEC provides some of the best returns: it gives the Kochs a way to make their brand of free-market fundamentalism legally binding.

Starting in 2010, the progressive moment has poured more and more resources into understanding and publishing the facts about heretofore-obscure conservative groups. The religious right? That's so 2007. The mission now is exposing the connections of Koch Industries, the origins of libertarian legislation in various unglamorous think tanks, and the corporate sponsors who make it possible.

The Republican Base supports corporations writing legislation. Amazing. They care about freedom. Look how hard they are trying to sell ours.

The Koch brothers are very evil. Imagine employing all of those union workers. Put them out of business, that will help the job market.

The only way is to have grass-roots movements like the Tea Party. Then watch them like hawks to see if they flip to the dark-side.

That wasn't the question.

Should these people be determining our rights?

They just recently flooded the states with voter rights bills.

The Tea Party was never grass roots. It was funded by Freeworks, FOX and the Chamber of Commerce.

No, they should not.

Nor should any other special interest group..... like those that wrote ObamaCare.

Yet again, you show your total ignorance of the same behavior on your own side and rant about it from others.

I may have mentioned this once or twice before.... but you are a fucking hypocrite - and a fucking bigot.

What part of free speech do you have a problem with?

None.

What problem do you have with a democratically elected government?

Oh and wealth is not speech.

I don't support undue influence by any group on our politicians. And I thought the citizen's united outcome was an abomination.

No and neither should marxist community organizers......

What part of free speech do you have a problem with?

That part of speech that was authorized by the Supreme Court in Citizens United v. FEC. Anyone who believes in democratric institutions and wants representative government which acts with the best interest of the nation as a whole and not simply to benefit special interests objects to propaganda posing as free speech.

No lobbyists should write bills, only congress should do that.
I have seen bills submitted that the submitter did not even know what was in it.

The USSC says wealth is free speech <kinda>. Its their wealth and they can do with it whatever they want. Voters can be influenced many ways. Look at the propaganda on MSNBC for example. They are not "fair and balanced" <g>
