Should America try to emulate Germany's socialism?

My answer is short and sweet. HELL NO!!! I wish all these folks who think the economies and government structures of other countries are so great would bother to go visit there before suggesting that we change our own to emulate theirs. Pure idiocy....

yes we forget that Europe is liberal socialist and poor. Germany and France have about the same per capita income as Arkansas, our poorest state! Not to mention we had to save them from themselves in WW2 and recreate them in our image.

Recently there was a speaker (self-proclaimed socialist) going on about how America should strive to be more like Germany. He said their economy is fantastic, and socialism is why.

Is this true?

It would not work here because our workers do not perform like german workers. There you dont have the excessive work rules we have in some of our unionized shops, nor do you have the massive overhead from public sector unions. Civil Service is seen as a privilidge in Germany, and attracts some of the best talent in thier population, compared to here, where it usually does not.
Ah. So you are saying that our workers are less productive. The numbers I have seen do not say that. So you have some proof, or are you just talking out of your ass???

national productivity numbers are impossible to understand when international supply chains figure so heavily so I'd drop the issue.

Has Germany eliminated private property? No?

Then they aren't socialist. The Socialism envisioned by Marx doesn't work.
You need to understand what socialism is, me boy. Socialism is the government ownership of the means of production and distribution of goods and services. Not ownership of property. Now, if you are talking about communism, you would be correct. It does not work, never has, and DOES entail the ownership of property.

So, does socialism work. Yup, it does, though generally tempered with a fair number or capitalist traits. Mixed economies that are primarily socialist are common, and many are doing extremely well. For example, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, and Canada. All consider themselves to be primarily socialist in nature. But none are pure socialist. The term is commonly socialist democracies. Or Socialist democracies.
Here are the top 10 countries to live in based on satisfaction of their citizens, from the annual UN survey: Norway, Australia, Iceland, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Switzerland and Japan.
They are pretty much have socialist democratic economies. And all are doing pretty well economically.

The US has now dropped out of the top 10, to number 13. The US has been dropping in these ratings for the past 20 plus years.

the genius liberal strikes again!!

Is Sweden Socialist?

"Sweden has always been a solid market economy", states the present right-wing government on its website. And that is certainly true. Sweden has never been a socialist society - based on public ownership of production, workers’ control and management, social equality and a democratic plan of production. Neither has Sweden been a ‘mixed economy’ or provided a ‘third way’ - an alternative to both capitalism and socialism, if such a thing were possible.

MartyBegan, Germany has strong labor unions.
Their unions, industries and all of their levels of governments’ support vocational training.
Similar to the USA, Germany monetarily compensates competence, excellence and craftsmanship.

Such workers in Germany are also granted more respect. The lesser respect and support that we grant our own workers has economic consequences.

Our nation economically benefited from a robust middle income segment of our population.

The proportion of our middle income population segment has declined while it has increased in other nations such as Germany.
The condition of a nation’s economy is indicated by its GDP per capita and its median wage which indicates the value of national production per capita and to what extent that it’s distributed throughout the nation.

The USA is losing ground.

Respectfully, Supposn

And again ed posts a quote without a link. I wonder why.

The beautiful nation of Sweden has the highest standard of living in the world. Its blossoming industry ranks far higher than the United States in most measurements. Life in Socialist Sweden is free of homeless, reckless, crazy people. In spite of the 55% income tax, Sweden has a history of strong family values, the most progressive education system in the world and extremely low unemployment.

Sweden boasts a new Third Way between Capitalism and Socialism, making it a great example of new age Collectivism. It's superior unionization and strong economy will ensure that it will be a Socialistic success story for years to come.

If you say Sweden, I say "Socialism WORKS!" ://www.paoracle.com/SocialismWORKS!/index.php?sw=Sweden
Socialism WORKS! for Sweden... or does it?

Sweden has a history of strong family values,

yes imagine if Sweden was made up of the worlds cast offs as America is, then imagine if its liberals had destroyed the Swedish family, then imagine if they were the worlds policeman, then imagine if they had to invent most of the products they use, and imagine if they had to save the world from war.

Sweden is really a tiny satellite of America, much like Canada.

That would make Sweden the greatest purveyor of violence on the planet.
Imagine that.

Violence in the cause of liberty and freedom is biblical!! Sorry!

IF you doubt it please say why or admit as a treasonous liberal that you lack the IQ to so.
