Shooting at Police Station

1. Officers in the station are supposed to holster their weapons. Those holsters have straps to keep the weapons from dropping out OR BEING TAKEN AWAY.

2. Was the guy in handcuffs? And he was still able to get a gun?

3. Are the cops by chance unionized? That would clearly explain their ineptitude.

  1. Some police use holsters that make it easier for them to draw their weapons quickly, these holsters also make it easier to steal said weapon.
  2. Good question, in most large departments suspects are always cuffed, smaller departments are not as strict about this.
  3. No comment.

Your avatar says "Army Retired". Id think you'd have more common sense about this.

Cops dont holster their weapons in common areas of a police department. They are only mandated to remove and lock them while inside a jail, or inside an interrogation room. In a common booking area, they are not. Remember the Detroit PD shooting in their building? Thats why they KEEP their guns with them everywhere they go.

The guns are holstered and strapped. But....seeing as they may need to access them quickly, they aren't done with a deadbolt or anything. Most shithead crooks know how those holsters work.

He was probably being fingerprinted, and thus, not in cuffs.

This incident was a female officer who got attacked, lost the fight, got her gun taken, and luckily, the cops ended up winning the entire battle and no cop died.

Cops lose fights....just like some Army troops lose fights. It happens. For you to make distasteful comments about it is pretty sad.

But, you seem to be like most: An armchair, "Monday morning" cop. Second guessing everything they do. Grow up.

Police work is dangerous. EVERY cop carries a gun, every day, and wears a vest. Unlike the military, there is no job to hide the unfit ones like a cook, or ship scrubber, or other non-combat jobs. Every cop....strong, weak, tough, scared, smart, dumb, fit, fat....carries a gun and patrols a district.

The bad ones will get into fights just like the fit ones. They'll lose some.

That said, I wish the nation's PD's would raise standards so unfit ones would NOT be able to make it. Police must carry their own individual high standards, as the agencies do not mandate that. Some cops are incredibly fit, capable, tough, smart. But its only because they carry that standard personally.

Seeing as all cops must work the street with a gun, seems standards would mandate all be tough and fit. God Bless the ones who do hold themselves to that personal standard.

You know what we really need to prevent these kinds of scenarios, according to Wayne LaPierre?

Armed police officers on site.

Right? lol Do police officers have to put away their guns when they walk into the station?
Depends on where they go. The Jail you have to check and lock up the guns. Some Department you have lock up your gun at the end of the shift.
Depends also on the policy of the Department.

No I can speak I paid my dues. Most gun fight happen when you least expect it. One cop was getting a coke in a 7 11 store, when a armed robber entered and shot him in the back with a sawed off shotgun. Just luck the robber had cut the bbl off to short and he was hit with 3 pellets from 28 feet away. Needless to say the suspect was DOA the LEO walked away.

Looks like a mass shooting took place in this thread with all the banned awards given out...
